every FF entry is different (gameplay, story, characters) so there's nothing to quite compare it to. as with any hardcore RPG though, i'd encourage exploring and doing side quests to level up. this video actually explains quite a bit:
So should I watch Kingsglaive? Does it add much to the story? I don't love animated action films and it's two hours long so I'm not exactly jumping on it, but if there's important information for the game I'd like to see it.
Watched Brotherhood the last two nights. I had watched the first episode when it released but then fell off with it. It surprised me. I kinda loved it. My copy should be here tomorrow so hopefully I can get through Kingsglaive and also start this bad mama jamma
Just spent an hour with it. Did one hint plus the one Cindy wanted us to do. Just got the car back. I'm level 3. Excited to see what's next but probably should go to bed. Stupid work.
Just finished the movie. Actually really liked it a lot. Also random cat mystery solved, lol. Now to play for an hour or so and go to bed. Weird night.
oh yeah I knew the original but the cover was what I was interested in. Lightning always coming through.
It's supposed to be what goes on back home while you're on your journey if I remember correctly from what was said a while back, so it adds to the story yeah. I haven't seen it. I just remember it being mentioned by Square or a gaming site. haha
I'm very impressed with this game. This might be one of 3 JRPGs I've ever played, but I'm really digging the world building/combat.
I got an hour in and it was pretty fun for the most part. I'm still struggling with the combat system and just timing everything perfectly but hopefully I pick that up with more combat.
Am I doing it wrong when for combat I'm mostly just warp striking or doing the regular hold O button and move the left stick? We just defeated the red tusk and it seemed kind of easy (with the link attacks). But a couple of times I went into stasis against the scorpion looking things. Confusing lol Also, how do you decide which ascension abilities to do first? Lol
Threw 3 hours into this game today. Overall, really impressed and it's mostly what's I want in a new FF game. Only qualm is with the magic design. I hate limited magic resources (FF VIII also comes to mind) so I basically never want to use it. And when I'm mashing buttons, I'll accidentally spray fire everywhere. Other than that, I love it.
Really glad I decided to watch Kingsglaive. I enjoyed it a lot and there's a good amount of information to be added to the game's story. Now having watched it and played a bit of the game, it's obvious they expect you to have seen it. The first few minutes felt directly ripped from the game, like an exposition dump that should be there when you don't click something on the main menu. I'll watch Brotherhood tomorrow. I got to the Chocobos tonight and the game keeps getting better. I loved how the first dungeon had a bit of a horror vibe (music was top notch) EDIT: Tip I just saw online that might help, you can click R3 while you're locked on and it will hold the lock for you.
Was on the fence about this game but really wanted to try it. Luckily gamefly sent it to me. Hopefully comes in today
