fucking god damn Vincent valentine is kicking my god damn ass up and down the basement of shinra manor it is a struggle just to get the third phase and then I just crumble
that took 6 or 7 tries fuck me dude it’s like they saw the Maliketh fight in elden ring and said yeah that but more
Mannnn the difficulty spike in Chapter 13 is a bummer so far. I haven’t even started progressing the main story but the final protorelic quest and Gold Saucer expert challenges are depressing
Yeah I noped outta doing the final Gold Saucer quests. The only thing in the entire game u was like nahh.
Definitely felt it with the Scarlett fight but was hoping it was just her. I’m scared. Can’t stand difficult spikes in JRPG’s. Main reason I scrubbed out on Y:LAD 1.
yooo Rufus kicked my teeth in like 4 times before I even could get my footing. Fight requires you to show that you understand the combat system really well which I liked but it was even harder than a dark souls boss fight in some respects because of how narrow the windows for reacting are. Especially using ATB commands on Rufus when he's reloading. You have to account for the spacing after his attacks. BUT! you have a short window to know if you need to block or dodge the attack. Madness. I finally got him staggered and then was able to drop Bahamut Arisen to wipe him and Darkstar out, but the whole time I had this feeling of pure chaos rather then I had control over anything that was happening. The feeling of relief when it was over though? Very reminiscent of how I felt after certain fights in the OG.
my strategy for this battle was stay alive until I could summon Alexander, who basically just kills everyone in it's final attack
After 10 tries I bit the bullet and redid the Turk fight on lower difficulty which got me to Rufus on easy which unfortunately trivialized the fuck out of it but I just could not see a way to win I could knock him down to the darkstar phase but even with a summon it was just too much and not fun
Trying to take on Kujata for the summon materia. Got two of his crystals but he’s still p tough. Might need to lvl up more cuz I ain’t going back to Gongaga for the last crystal. His final move wipes my party every time
lol I didnt get a chapter 8 golden saucer “date”. I guess because Tifa and Red had the same relationship level?
There's 2 dates. The one in chapter 8 is just whoever goes with you when you're walking around exploring the Gold Saucer. The "date" date is in chapter 12.
Cloud stopped Sephiroth from killing Aerith but Sephiroth was able to begin the convergence with the black materia which rewrote the event so she died from the perspective of the party in the Remake/Rebirth timeline. We are keyed into convergence having occurred by Cloud being able to see the doomsday band of stars from Zach’s timeline. At first blush, it may seem inconclusive whether or not the worldline she’s from has itself died. After all, Sephiroth tells Cloud that worlds may endure or die. However, when Aerith rejoins Cloud to fight Sephiroth she thanks him “Thank you, I saw what you did for me back there”. This confirms that Cloud actually saved her. The scene where Aerith wakes up has the rainbow shine that indicates a transfer or arrival between worlds signaling that the event is real. Worth mentioning that Zach is transferred to a new world line with the same rainbow shine. Cloud however, is an unreliable narrator given his cellular degradation so I anticipate a lot of interpretations of the ending will align with the party’s response to Cloud. We’re meant to take this two ways simultaneously: 1) That Sephiroth(Jenova) is far more evil and the loss of Aerith this time is even far more tragic. The stakes were built higher. Cloud was more out of control and we were given red herring foreshadowing that he would kill her. He was able to overcome this and save her from Sephiroth but rewrote the timeline making the party’s victory over fate meaningless. This makes Cloud’s deranged state going into part 3 even heavier than the OG, he’s not actually delusional that he saved Aerith but the cosmological mechanisms at play are far too complex for him or the party to completely understand. He can only trust what Aerith is telling him but the party has already been shown during the end to look at him with pity and distrust. He’ll be inconsolable, despondent, and confused and when prompted to accept the reality she’s gone - it’ll be interesting to see if he sticks to his guns. 2) That the worldline where Aerith was saved may still exist, perhaps even the same worldline where Zach resides now (which may not even be the same one he was in for the duration of the game, in chapter 13 it was shown that even his decisions were branching out creating new worldlines). Sidenote: Chapter 13’s date in the slums was brillant in signaling this. Cloud and Aerith make a series choices together that ultimately are taken away from them by an unexpected outcome. Important to note when they take a picture as a couple, there’s a worldline created where they fail and another when they succeed. I’m extremely confident about this.
