Knowing my motivation lately I probably won’t get it done fast enough, but would you guys recommend I replay Crisis Core as a refresher? I beat it when it first came out on PSP, so it’s definitely not fresh in my mind. I never beat the OG FF7, so idk if it’s important or not, especially now.
If you can remember the broad strokes you probably won't have to refresh yourself, but if you remember basically none of it, it definitely seems like it's going to be kind of important so you might wanna blitz the story. I feel like it's only a 10~15 hour game if you just slam the story and ignore most of the side missions, as long as you don't play the hardest difficulties or whatever.
https://www.ign.com/articles/final-fantasy-8-director-would-change-the-combat-system-in-a-remake I will never expect this to actually happen, but man, I would love a FF8 remake
I absolutely love FF8 and would be so excited for a remake. The world in that game is so fascinating, and the characters are some of my favorites. The story arc that Squall goes on is amazing. The combat system does kind of suck with how easily it can be broken but everything else in that game is so damn good.
Exactly! I think it honestly deserved a remake more than FF7 actually did. It would’ve benefitted more because FF7 was already pretty much flawless besides being older. But I’m still happy with what we are getting though because they’re crushing it with this remake trilogy.
I think that’s just based on some leaker saying it is, but I could be wrong and there might be further proof. But I do remember the last leaker to bring it up did have a good track record. Pretty sure he claimed FFX was also planned eventually
Yeah I’d rather have the rumored FF13 trilogy remaster than a FFX remake. I need an excuse to give it another shot
I really enjoyed the 13 trilogy at the time. I’m pretty sure I got the platinum for all 3 back in the day. X would sell like hot cakes. But I cannot envision X being anything but turn based and I’d honestly prefer they just leave that be lmao.
8 & 9 would be insane. the 3 game span of 7,8,9 was something marvelous to behold. 10 never grabbed me like those. Didn’t love Tidus or many of the characters and Yuna felt like diet Rinoa to me.
X is all my all time favorite. It definitely doesn’t need a remake. But if it did, going the FF7 remake combat route could make it a wild experience.
I definitely trust them after 7 remake to make the combat work. I just don’t know if the game has aged enough to warrant it. I do think that there’s more story to tell though
I still really want a FFX prequel where you play as Jecht or Auron and go through Braska's pilgrimage Given that it's such a small party something like that would probably work well for a 7R-style game but that probably wouldn't ever happen
I agree that I don't think X needs a remake, per se. Perhaps a remaster to fix some clunky gameplay but X is an absolute favourite.

Gonna try the demo after work today. Skimmed through some of the state of play last night. I was pretty blown away by the size of the map. They made it seem like it was more FF16 but the specific region map they showed made it look incredibly dense and full of shit to find and do.
Maybe the scale is a little different but this gives me more Witcher 3 style vibes per area than how 16 handled their semi-linear zones I can’t wait to run around these areas
Lightning Returns was so fun. XIII-2 was really the only one I didn’t enjoy a ton but I still finished it up.
I liked XIII-2 a lot and I liked XIII as well. Never played Lightning Returns. But it'd be good to have a way to revisit them but at the same time there's lotsa other things I'd rather CBU1 focus on
