Running Garuda, Titan and Ramuh. Pulled heatwave off of Phoenix for magic counter and threw it on Ramuh. Now I have an even meltier setup. That lightning rod placement then Garuda and titan with the multi hits when they’re staggered just sheds health because of garuda and Ramuh multiplier.
I ran pheonix, gardua, and odin for the last bit of the game but before odin I used titan. With phoenix I had scarlet cyclone and flames of rebirth, with Garuda I threw in pile drive and Diamond dust by mastering them, and then Odin I used heavens cloud and whatever the one that’s basically just a flurry attack is forgot the name. apparently giga flare is the most powerful ability in the game but I just could not get into the feel of bahamut’s skill set at all. I used every other Eikon at some point for at least a couple hours each but I abandoned bahamut after like three encounters lol when I did run titan it was upheaval and earthen fury and it was hard to let those go but the Odin tree played more to my liking with how fast it was
also I could never give up Phoenix because using Phoenix shift became second nature and I couldn’t imagine not having it in my tool belt
I just got Bahamut and feel indifferent outside of needing Deadly Embrace and Phoenix Shift It's awesome that you can infinitely re-spec your skills
I do think the equipment/weapon system in this game is kinda lacking. I like that there a bunch of different swords and basically only 2 stats that are generally the same number and only ever increase, so you’re not getting stuck on the equipment screen too long weighing pros/cons. But I wish there was a way to have weapons be relevant a little longer. Especially weapons with lore around them like Excalibur, or Clive’s family sword. Or, since your gear is less important to your build than Eikon abilities, an option to apply an already owned weapon skin to a different sword.
I feel like I'm always able to immediately get the best thing available which kinda makes it all feel arbitrary
See and I think Phoenix shift was the same as stinger and would barely use it. I feel like garudas grapple is more useful to bring people to me. Those frame delays hurt me after the phase shift and you’re not invulnerable.
Hmmm I’m a little farther into the game now and I don’t want to judge too quickly since it’s early. But the lack of customization for party members and no ability to control them is a bummer. It just seems like a loss especially with the game being so linear already. but, I will say the focus on the summons (eikons I know) is awesome. I have always loved them and this game feels like a love letter to them.
tbh as someone who plays a lot of party based games it was kind of nice to be able to just have one character to build and focus on
I'm happy with no party system because it never really felt like Clive was alone and I cared as much for the characters around me as much as I would a party, while having combat flexible enough to not care about developing a party. But I do agree about the equipment system feeling lackluster. I don't really care too much, it doesn't make me think less of the game, but it feels like a missed opportunity
Yeah I kind of wish the swords had different attributes to have pros/cons for each or status effects, rather than just attack power.
Due to how easy it is to get crafting materials, I think it'd be cool to have the weapons be able to be bought from Charon or found, and then have the blacksmith's crafting tweak the attributes, adding status effects or specific eikon imbuement, kinda like how in Elden Ring the whetblades can be used to change the scaling and damage types when you set an Ash of War. That'd not only create variety but also not make it feel like I constantly have all the materials I need at any time as I'd be tweaking more often and be inspired I'm totally fine with that not being the case and am cool with focusing heavily on my skills more than my gear but it'd be cool
ripping off a quick 6-15 ranking, as the first chapter of 16 has me thinking on the series as a whole X VI IX VII VIII XII XV XIII
overall im liking XVI a lot so far but it just reminds me more of a God of War/Devil May Cry type game than FF, not that there's something wrong with that
It becomes quite different than both of those franchises and feels very FF the further in you get made some strides on ff6 on my drive to KC today, just about to hit the world of ruin part of the game
Chrono Cross is up there with 7,8,9 for me. The music is phenomenal and I enjoyed the story a lot. As well as the massive list of recruitable party members.
For 6-15: 1a. Critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV with a free trial up to level 60 which includes A Realm Reborn and the award winning expansion Heavensward 1b. VI 2. X 3. XII 4. IX 5. VIII 6. VII 7. XIII-2 8. X-2 9. XV 10. XIII Never played Lightning Returns. Right now XVI would be somewhere above XII, in competition with X for me.
