It’s so hard to pick abilities. I mean I have a setup that just melts enemies, but all of them are pretty fun and useful. Can’t wait to see what else we get after titan..
I was running fire wind and earth for a while but now I’m trying fire lightning and earth. not a huge fan of the light skills you get after bahamut
As I get deeper into the game I get more confused about the side quest criticism. First of all, tons are super interesting character building/world building bits but they also don’t take very long at all to do, generally speaking, and there’s really not an overwhelming amount unless you just straight up refuse to do any of them. So it’s weird how much complaining about them I’ve seen when they don’t even take up that large of a chunk of the game especially if you don’t necessarily do all of them but like I’m doing a good few between big story missions to chill out and relax
I don’t mind the side quests, and actively enjoy the hunts. I like them for taking breaks between story sections.
Have every Eikon unlocked, redistributed all my point to go heavy into the three I’m gonna use to the end (fire, ice, and dark). Also didn’t realize when you master an ability you can assign it to any Eikon
Titan fight rambling ahead (including FFXIV raid spoilers if you care about that) The Titan fights were so fun. The Hugo semi-prime fight was very reminiscent of FFXIV ARR's Titan extreme mechanically while feeling fluid enough to be an action game fight of course. But the actual Titan fight? My GOD. Ryota Suzuki did a fantastic job making the fight feel as massive as it should throughout. If semi-prime was ARR Titan extreme, full size Titan after eating the mothercrystal was pure Shadowbringers Titan phase 2, with everything from the massiveness of it all to the strange music shift. I love how every time the fight felt close to done there was something else yet to come and none of it felt like a drag to do. I really can't get over how fun this game is to play at all times, and so far Titan is the peak of that. I'm so excited for what is to come.
I also want to bring up since someone was upset about Yoshi-P's comments before game release: as I am playing this game it was a good decision to not include fishing and it would've 100% felt out of place and dumb to be fishing in this game. I'm extremely happy with the gameplay of main quests, sidequests, and especially hunts, and going off to do fishing or some triple triad equivalent would feel so awkward and distract from what makes this game fun.
There are plenty of good games that can incorporate fishing in smart and good ways, and we can always play those for the fishing experience. It definitely doesn't need to be here
The Titan fight is 100% the best moment in this game, the last quest might change that but that’s a high I haven’t experienced in an RPG in so long.
I know this thread is being dominated by XVI talk but I remembered yesterday that I had an unopened copy of VII (remake) I got for dirt cheap forever ago and just opened and started it up on my ps5, ended up putting a few hours in during the shit weather we had yesterday. My first ever FF experience but I'm having a blast so far, wish I started it sooner
It feels so great to enjoy a FF title again. This game has been wildly fun and have had some great wow moments. I normally don’t like qte in games but the presentation of this game is so engaging that those moments don’t bother me in this. Didn’t take to XV too well but might give it another try after finishing this one. For my unpopular opinion, the last FF game I enjoyed was XIII: Lightning Returns which this game reminds me a lot of: single playable character in a more action title with a system that can be likened to the dress spheres in X-2 that’s all about staggering and punishing the enemies. XVI feels like a more direct and natural evolution of the battle system from LR to me, and that’s made it very enjoyable for myself.
