I got the better weapons at Nalbina and used Quickenings to beat the Werewolves at the south end of the Giza Plains which you had no business defeating. I went into the Westersand and the Zertinan Caverns as well, along with killing some rare game. When I went to Bhujerba I was able to defeat everything pretty easy and was able to go into the Necrohol very early on.
I never got to play XII. They made a sort of sequel to it for DS and it was one of the first DS games I bought, not knowing it was a sequel, so I never played it when I found out
Really excited about XII's announcement. I'm going to try to finish III and then playthrough IX, X and XV before it comes out.
I've never understood the hype around it. 8&9 are the weakest of the 3D FFs IMO* *excluding 13 and the MMOs
I agree with eight. I think IX is second after VII for me. I played X years ago, but never found myself going back to it. Perhaps it was having to sit through the scene where Tidus and Yuna laugh a lot. After that, I never really played any of the games again. I think it is just the dialog. I like the game and the story. It is just that being older, I have less of a tolerance for the flaws I suppose. I honestly need to download an emulator, so I can play Xenogears again. Now that is a game that is superior to most of the Final Fantast titles and vastly underrated. It's disappointing we didn't get a series out of it.
The voice acting, even aside from that scene, is IMO the only major flaw of it. Also, on the laughing scene: https://twinfinite.net/2016/03/tidus-voice-actor-final-fantasy-xs-laughing-scene/
I loved XII mostly dude to the combat. Vaan sucked but I did like some of the supporting characters. Story was meh but most JRPGs are anymore. That being said I'll definitely be getting the remaster. Sucks it's not til next year but makes sense with Square's other FF finally coming out this year lol. Oh damn that King Fire Bomb boss in that trailer! I remember him being such a pain in the ass for me.
I wonder if they'll make espers useful AT ALL. I don't think I used a single one. If I did, they made zero difference. Once you get to the mines and Gilgamesh, none of that shit matters.
I stopped FFX after I saw that massive blitzball tutorial. :S hahaha. Yeah I'm still a long way to go until the end...idk when I'll go back to it. I want World of Final Fantasy but I have no PlayStation.
I still haven't figured out how to play blitzball. Ha. I guess I shouldn't detract from the final fantasy talk, but did any of you folks enjoy Chrono Cross? That's probably in my top five. That was truly Square's golden age.
You can disregard blitzball as long as you make out through the tutorial and the tournament. No need to stress over it
Gonna begin a replay of it tonight now haha I had forgotten all about Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger
There's something like that on most of the games I guess, whether it's Blitzball or the casino or a card game. A way to get items or stat boosts that is completely optional except when it is first introduced
I don't think I ever got too far into the second disc of Chrono Cross back in the day but I remember liking it a lot. Blitzball is terrible but I still love it and feel the need to win the tournament every time I play.
You can pretty much skip learning Blitzball if you want, it doesn't really matter if you win or lose. It's not that hard though.
Just played the first hour and a half of IX. I really like it so far, Zidane is a nice change of pace after Squall and Cloud's brooding personas haha.
