Demo was fantastic. Combat feels super rewarding. Story seems like it has potential to be an all time great in the series. my only complaint (and I know it’s stupid) is having to do quick little time events to open big ass doors or break wood lmao
I'm torn on it but based on what we've seen right now I don't like that either. I think in situations where maybe there's the possibility of being in combat it could be something good to be able to be interrupted because I don't really like the "open doors for i-frames" concept in other games I play, but I do have a feeling that that won't ever be the situation and it will just be an annoying thing we execute (but it doesn't bother me much)
I haven't done the challenge mode yet but my one complaint that actually bothers me is not being able to remap controls. But that's more of a nitpick than anything and I feel like when I do the challenge mode and have the full scope of combat I'll feel better about the controls being static Everything else I think is perfect or near perfect. This feels incredible right away. Will very easily be in competition for GOTY for me if not already GOTY, hopefully with Armored Core VI and Lies of P
I only dabbled in the challenge mode for a minute but from glancing at the menu there, it looks like we might be able to remap? I had a metric fuck ton of more abilities and a new screen has popped up in the abilities section (not sure if you can remap tho, looks like it might be possible)
I was also not sold on another relative “linear” FF game but I think it works well here using a sort of Nioh style area select. Interested to see if they will have a few bigger areas to roam around in to do hunts and stuff in the end game.
I think it works this way compared to FF XV's "open world" that they tried since it doesn't feel so empty. Though, i'll reserve judgement for that when the full game is out. Button remapping should be a thing, maybe just not something for the demo?
I’m only a couple hours into the demo. I am really loving this. Only issue is the combat feels a little clunky, but that’s typical. Loving the overall feel and the FF elements are there (I’ve been seeing people complain on this) Will the world map be in place of an open world or is that just a fast travel thing?
Dodge being R1 is always weird for me (but I guess the last action RPG I played was Kingdom Hearts 3 so that's why)
The battle controls definitely feel off for me. I’m sure it’s also due to playing TOTK and XC3 DC right now too.
Played the demo then the challenge and R1 was easier than O. Having all those abilities was overwhelming but Im sure it’ll come naturally in the game.
Loved the demo and I'm a big fan of Active Time Lore feature. I hope more lore/story-heavy games implement a similar feature.
I have never watched game of thrones, but I know enough to get the comparison after finishing the demo. some of the language seemed a little silly in the demo. Took me out of the moment a little. But it’s nothing that will be a problem. the door opening is annoying, no idea what the point is. Slows things down in an odd way. Great demo all around though and it really got me pumped up for the story and the full game.
Wow, the demo made it clear they were holding a lot of info story wise back. So many moving scenes, and the music is incredible really spans from capturing the feeling of the old school games to the more ambient modern stuff. Taking off next Friday for this
Oh yeah it’a gonna be bumpin next week. There hasnt been a new main series FF release in all of chorus history.
