Picked FFIII back up last night. Picked the thread of the story back up way more easily than I was expecting.
I didn't have a PS growing up, and I never played a single FF game until a few years ago. I decided I wanted to play through most of the series, but damn is it hard for me to find the time to commit to long RPGs like these nowadays haha. I feel like I can't make any substantial progress unless I have at least an hour or two to sit down and play, and that rarely ever happens anymore. I've been working on FFVIII for about 2 years now because I'll sometimes go months without finding a good chunk of time to sit down and play. I did manage to get through IV, VI, and VII though. Great games! Maybe I'll somehow make it through the series before my demise.
I pretty much go through phases with entertainment, like I only have a couple hours free time per day, so if I want to read a book or get through a tv show or play a game it's pretty much all the recreation I'll do for whatever stretch of days or months it takes.
Yup same here for sure hahaha. I'm so slow on everything but very dedicated to whatever's in front of me.
Yeah absolutely. I likewise have a couple hours a day and have to decide between practicing/writing/recording music, catching up on shows, playing a game, etc. Even when I do go for a video game, I usually grab something that I can pick up and put down in smaller increments unless I somehow have a big block of time.
The Final Fantasy games were like a second life when I was in middle and early high school. It was very easy to put 100 hours into one, and they were all replayed multiple times. I have shifted more toward casual gaming as my demands have become more adult-oriented.
Yeah, during middle and high school and even college I loved those 40+ hour RPG experiences. With all of the added demands on my time now, that kind of commitment seems borderline insurmountable haha.
Wanted to start a game again, so I decided to go for VI. Forgot how slow these games could be haha. Dropped an hour on it this evening tho to get me started.
i may be biased, but the balamb garden theme is the best piece of music in final fantasy after to zanarkand
It's pretty good I still love orchestral Dancing Mad the most but To Zanarkand gives the most memories/feeling (also Via Purifico) A lot of underrated music in 8 though
Hey guys, long time lurker on AP and this is my first post so, um, hi? Haven't seen this in here yet but they've confirmed the rumours of a FFXII HD remake, video's in the article - Final Fantasy 12 HD remaster coming next year Not my favourite in the series but it was decent nonetheless.
XII is fantastic and so so so so so much better than people think. I hated it when it came out but I replayed it a couple of years back and it's brilliant.
Hopefully something is done about some of the more absurd endgame stuff. The time needed to get a weapon like the Tournesol or beat Yiazmat is unrealistic to expect.
I hope some of the sound is improved, the voice acting in XII always sounded like they were underwater or something
There was a lot of compression because they were pushing the limit of the DVD. It is one of the reasons why a lot of the dialogue is text, whereas X was much more spoken.
I would definitely check out the remaster. I probably played 10-15 hours or so (maybe more? I really can't remember) of it and got stuck on some battle. I remember really liking the fighting system but wasn't sure if I was that into the story/characters.
One of the great things about XII is how open it was compared to most contemporary Final Fantasy games. With just Vaan you could complete quite a few hunts that you were not supposed to if you traveled to areas and did a little grinding.
I remember walking out an hour or two into the game and getting trounced by the T-Rex after not saving at all. Came back a few hours later and mauled him.
