Thought it was pretty hilarious that the spirits turned out to be the in-game representation of the fan community begging Square not to change anything about the original game’s story lmao
I never actually finished XII but X is top-tier FF for me. I managed Hell House but man, Abzu's Backwater just hurts. Boss battles are crazy.
Abzu was the boss that broke me too, just not fun at all. I switched to easy mode for boss fights shortly after that. I really want to like X but Tidus is the fucking worst
Tidus is one of my favourites! Apart from that laugh with Yuna he went from broken, famous Blitzball star to hero of Zanarkand.
Huh, I did not have any trouble with Abzu the first time. The second time I failed once or twice before I beat him.
But to be fair I didn’t have a single boss that took me more than two of three tries to beat. I beat most of them on my first try, including the final boss.
I never had a game over on a boss, but Abzu was basically juggling which characters needed phoenix down's and healing. It was just annoying
Tidus is great and has wonderful character progression I say this every time but the dude is literally dropped into a world he knows shit about and has to deal, of course he’s gonna be frustrating and annoying at times trying to figure out everything. If he wasn’t, he’d be boring as hell and a bad protagonist him finding out about the end of the pilgrimage is a top moment for me
Tidus rules and has one of the best character arcs in the whole franchise tbh and yeah the Zanarkand reveal is a top gaming moment of all time for me
I guess I'll give FFX another shot, but it's a struggle every time he talks. Even his voice irritates me.
Are we ready to talk about the ending/whole story of Remake yet? If the whispers are defeated (hate them, by the way) and destiny is changed and Zack supposedly survives, does that not completely invalidate Cloud as a character as he is in "this timeline"? All the fake out deaths completely remove the stakes of this world, even if Aerith dies I can't help but feel like "Well...Barret, Wedge, Biggs (and probably Jessie) didn't actually die so why should I feel anything about this?" And fighting Sephiroth this early really feels like a mistake. I'm very curious if they had actually written the entire "new story" before releasing this part, because it already seems hard to go bigger than fighting a series of destiny gods inside a weird cosmic singularity or whatever the fuck was happening at the end. I'm not optimistic. This is all very negative, the game really bummed me out. But my friend who didn't play the original was absolutely baffled by that weird Cait Sith cameo after the plate collapse so that was funny.
I just got to chapter 8 last night, and man, I absolutely love Aerith in this game. They really nailed her character and picked a great voice actor for her.
Only on chapter three, but I've already gotten several swells of emotion playing this game. Nostalgia hits strong, especially with the music. I'm loving this game already, combat is the best. How're they're telling the story and the characters is just awesome. Materia. My favorite game as a kid.. I can't wait to see what they do in the next installments.
I only really got a bit frustrated with a couple of the boss fights, yeah. 95% of them I beat on my first try.
Aerith's, Tifa's and The Main Theme are probably the three best pieces of music ever composed for a FF game. You know which other game has amazing music.. FF8
Done the pull up challenge which was intense. Abzu second fight wasn't as bad as the first. Done Chapter 14 and cannot get enough of this. Do not want it to end. Currently at 33 hours but the last few chapters are zooming through.
Chapter 7 and I'm loving this, I just really hope we get like a FF15 size/style open world for the next game.. but better obviously.
