I thought I was so fucked at first and it would take a few tries. I JUST scraped by at the end. Barrett bit the bullet after casting a few last Bolt2 spells (i know its not called that) and then I just hacked it away with Cloud to finish it at the end.
I didn't think Air Buster was that hard, but maybe that's because of the combination of equipment that I junked in the run-up to the fight.
Yeah it wasn't that hard, that's why I knew I could just spam some spells and hack him away at the end. I just got a little reckless. The beginning of the fight is intimidating though.
Unlike the Chapter 8 fight with Rude, pretty much all of Reno's physical attacks can be countered with Punisher mode. Really the only time you need to switch off of it is to destroy those lightning orbs he summons.
Is it preferable to use stat boosting items on one character (Cloud) or use them to help even out deficiencies. Like do you use a Power Source on your most powerful character or least powerful character I've always froze up over that dilemma and just not used them lol
I just can't get over how cheap this game feels. The graphics for the most part are insanely impressive and the actual story is still great when you aren't forced to do unnecessary stuff to pad it out, but the actual gameplay just feels so bad. It feels like a $5 episode you'd buy on PSN. A couple of my friends who are playing agree, but online reaction seems overwhelmingly positive which is just so weird to me.
I don’t know how anyone can say it feels like a finished and polished AAA game? I’m purely talking gameplay, not graphics or story. I’m in the Shinra building and getting Tifa into the reception desk felt like a bad indie game. it just feels worse than XV. i want it to be better
Yeah I can understand not being crazy with how it plays but it feels a lot more comfortable to me than XV ever did and I'm curious as to how XV could possibly play better than VIIR I don't wanna be dismissive, it just doesn't make sense to me
This is arguably the best real-time combat system Square has made. Maybe one of the KH games tops it but, idk, it feels pretty great to me. Also, idk, you can tell a ton of money was poured into making this game what it is. It definitely feels like a full-fledged game to me so far.
I don’t think you could play as Red XII in the original game either unless I missed some side content.
Is that right? I remember him joining shortly after freeing him in the Shinra building, but it’s been like 15 years since I last played it
He joins in the Shinra building. But there’s no reason for him to be a party member in this one given that’s at the end of this game. Trying to introduce a new character/have him be leveled and used in the final part of the game wouldn’t be a great decision and I totally get him being a guest member in this game.
