Lot of people in those YouTube comments saying how they vocals are better live than on the studio versions though lol Maybe they really should rethink some of those vocal effects
They've got a headline show in July and I have to assume they'll want to play more than 25 minutes for that. The Rock Sound interview makes it seem like he's been working on this for a while so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a full album. I hope so.
My uneducated guess is that we get the EP in a month or so to coincide with the headline gig, and the album next year.
Looking at the videos, that confirms it's definitely not James and Matt on guitar and bass! I wonder who they could be though
I had never heard of Charlie Simpson before PRESIDENT, my friends were shocked I hadn’t even heard Busted’s Year 3000, but I’ve become kinda obsessed with all of his music since. PRESIDENT is the most I’ve ever played singles before ever.
I'm weird in that I discovered him because his solo album Young Pilgrim was getting a lot of hype here. I still love that one and the follow up, Long Road Home, along with Behind the Devil's Back by Fightstar, but remain "meh" on most of his other stuff, including all of Busted. I am cautiously excited for more PRESIDENT though, but I kind of hate the masked stuff.
That’s fair. Busted is easily my least favorite project of his (I think I’ve heard everything now). But personally, I love the President mask. I’ve thought a few times over the years of doing something similar as a way to write about things I don’t really want my face attached to. But also totally get it comes off weird or offputting to others.
Grand Unification's 20th on January 1st. A month tomorrow, then! Absolutely no chance of a celebration with PRESIDENT active, right?
Interestingly I was on Internet Archive the other day looking for old issues of Kerrang and stumbled on one that contained Charlie's first interview about Fightstar, like a week or two before he left Busted.
It's changed a lot over the years but Kerrang and the like used to be a lot more acerbic 20 years ago; and bands were blunter and more outspoken too. Kerrang were quickly supportive of Fightstar but Busted had been an object of mockery for them beforehand and Charlie spent the first couple of years of Fightstar aggressively distancing himself from Busted, in a way that he probably wouldn't have had to if it had happened today.
The Aereogramme mention is another reminder of how small the UK's music scene is. That was Iain Cook's old band before Chvrches.
