Oh man maybe the worst possible announcement haha. A single show and it's an arena. Hopefully getting together again will push them towards new music.
Damn, that blows. I guess this won’t be much more given how big the show is. Hopefully they have plans to carry on after in some way that leads to new music.
I hope the demand is there and that they sell it out. Can’t believe it’s been nearly twenty years since I went to the Fightstar website and heard “Paint Your Target”, “Lost Like Tears In The Rain” and “Palahniuk’s Laughter” for the first time.
I'll be there at least! I hate arena shows but can't miss Fightstar. Hopefully it sells out and they're inspired to make some new music by the response.
What are the chances of Charlie putting Busted on hold for a couple of years so that he can jump into Fightstar properly again? Busted seem to be doing pretty well for themselves atm...
They made their last album in like half a year, surely he can spare that haha. Or even if they just slowly work on it over time that would be great.
I don't like the mention of 'for one night' on the poster, because that means one night only. I was really hoping for a single announcement and tour
You'd hope this would at least be the litmus test for potential further shows / recordings. But yeah this was kind of the very least we expected when we caught wind of something happening.
I feel like this is a test and the show's response will make them decide whether they want to make a full blown comeback?
Fightstar: “I don’t go a day without being asked when… | Kerrang! Can we be cheeky and ask if the Wembley show might lead to any new music? Charlie: “I feel like at the moment, we’re not really focused on that. We’re definitely always open to making new music because we love making music together. That takes a huge amount of dedicated time. Dan and Al have Gunship stuff and I’ve been doing a lot of stuff and I’ve got a lot going on as well. I feel like when the time is right for us to come together and do new music, I definitely think we will want to.” Dan: “I will say this: when I’m in the studio and I’m writing Gunship material, every now and then I come up with a riff that’s just a little too heavy…” Charlie: “We just want to focus on this show, really have a celebration and celebrate what's part of the history of the band rather than focusing on the future at the moment. It’ll always be in the back of our minds, though.” ^ Exactly what I presumed.
I love Busted and I'm excited for the next album but if we get 4 Busted albums in a row without a new Fightstar album I will become bitter.
Busted will never write another song as good as Who's David, and Fightstar will never write another song as good as Palahniuk's Laughter. I don't listen to Fightstar much nowadays and I think it's generally too easy to pick highlights off their records, but I still think the EP is bulletproof. Even Speak Up is a blast. Grand Unification is obviously the best full-length.
Busted have written multiple songs better than Who's David on their last two albums. I feel like every Fightstar album has at least 70% of the tracklist as highlights for me with Grand Unification being one of my top 5 ever.
Just listened to a few of those busted re-recordings and Charlie generally sounds pretty bored to me on those songs. Night Driver was definitely a push from Charlie trying to push busted forward with a more mature sound (which I really enjoyed) but because it didn't do as well as they'd hoped, the band had to go back to their original sound. Fightstar has been consistently good, their last album is an absolute blast. Shame it didn't get the push it deserved as Charlie literally went back to busted a month later.
