I can’t believe England are in a World Cup semi final. Wow!

Croatia will be tough. Just hope we don’t have to face Subasic in a penalty shootout - he seems good at the mind games and has the ability to save well.

Can we reach the final?! I have no idea but I’m loving this and I keep dreaming!

Thank you! I always support the other teams in the UK as well as hoping Ireland do well. (Obviously not when we play each other). I know we’ve done (and continue to do) a lot to screw up Scotland but I think it’s nice to cheer each other on at these kind of times.

Having said that, totally get the annoyance! I’m trying to NOT overhype the situation. But literally every text from one of my family has the words “it’s coming home” in it, haha. Crazy times. The weather has been pretty good too...!

 

Even though we have had a slightly easier path there, the fact our team is one of the youngest at the tournament also really excites me. These players could compete for trophies at international level for the next three or four tournaments and that's really amazing to think about after nothing for 50 years.

 

All of our youth teams have won big trophies within the last few years too if I'm not mistaken, so we will have good quality coming through to replace those older players when they retire. Young players like Jadon Sancho choosing to play abroad whips ass too, I hope more follow his example rather than sit in the reserves of big PL teams for too long.

 

The England youth teams are very exciting to be fair.

 

The English media and the English fans doing shit like trashing up an Ikea after winning a match are some reasons why I really don't want England to win it.

I genuinely feel this 100%. For the first few games this WC I went out to pubs/bars to watch them but the people just got worse and worse to the point where I couldn't really enjoy being there - non-stop fights all the fucking time, even during the daytime games with families and children around, big groups of fans harassing people just going about their business etc. etc. There's nothing wrong with celebrating of course, but we're evidently a nation of complete boneheads who disregard any notion of decency and respect whether we win or lose.

 

The sad thing is, it's not really an indictment of English fans. It's actually just the English.

I was out in Bristol last night and deliberately picked a place which would be away from he mess. The number of groups of noisy yobs passing by for the whole evening was ridiculous. On top of that, one of the guys got home to find police cars everywhere, because they'd decided to kick the shit out of each other in the street.

 

Whilst this clearly happens, I never see any of it. I always find everyone is in good spirits and I don't ever see any fights or anything. Maybe I'm just lucky.

90% of people are in good spirits, I will say! I'm in a small/medium town in Devon and it's one of those places where fighting is just a way for people to entertain themselves though, so it's kinda like whether there's football on or not lmao. Was sat watching the Belgium game and some absolute dipshit was bragging to his mates that he'd started on a group of 4 people the weekend just gone - he'd got his ass kicked and been knocked clean out, but still it was a story worth telling it seems.

Its taken me until the semis to commit to root for a single team, but I'm all in on Croatia. Its been great to watch so far, these semi final games look to continue that.

 

The underlying “fuck Madrid” of the appointments for Spain today is going to be a fun level of petty to play out for those two years
