I was trying to describe myself to someone

Would like to see Rose play instead of Young, just to see if he brings a bit more intent. Young was quite quiet. Although, one of those games which was pretty hard for any defensive players in an England shirt to shine. They hardly had to do anything other than play sideways passes to each other.

I'm a bit worried that we started with such a furious tempo and pressing game and then we started to slide back into the old sluggish England. Definitely need to find a way to spark the players back into life mid game.

Is the Japan and Columbia game at 8 am or 7 am EST? I’m seeing both.

Games are 8/11/2. Fox advertises a preshow that doesn’t always exist as the start time for some reason

It was great to watch England for the first 35 minutes of the game last night. Finally some attacking football.

The penalty was a penalty but it could have easily not been given. I was surprised that they didn't use VAR to review the rugby tackle on Kane at the other end.

Sadly after that goal we froze a bit. I wasn't sure whether it was the heat or nerves after conceding, but watching England pass it around at the back and go nowhere is standard England. When we play with pace we look good. When we get tired and jittery and it gets slow we look very average.

However, just when it felt like it was going to be a disappointing draw up pops Harry Kane and we nick the win! It was deserved - we were by far the better team. It's refreshing to have a player that can be in the right place at the right time to grab a needed goal. We haven't had that for a while and when you do have that you always believe to the last minute!

Pleased we won. I feel we'll have enough to get through the group now.

Maddison is a good young player, but £22m for him is ridiculous.

  10. It makes me think they are attempting to follow Atlanta's strategy when they hired Tata

Getting to watch 30 mins of each lunchtime game during my dinner break at work every day for a month is going to be awesome

I don't know what the record for PKs (excluding shootouts) in a WC is but it's getting broken this year.

Leno is a great purchase from us. Strange to see us doing such good business this window.

Also if Japan get this win, it's gonna blow this group wide open.

This announcer on Fox is the worst. Gets way too excited over chances that are no where close to net and seems like he has no idea what he's talking about at times.

I'm sorry but this is my experience of most American commentators talking about 'soccer'.

Lol overall I'd agree with you. This in particular was Jorge Perez-Navarro. Some people seem to love him but I can't stand listening to him fumble through his call of the game.

Who is that way over the top american commentator who uses really random metaphors for everything?

He's funny to hear on gifs but I heard him commentate a whole match once and I had to mute it 15 mins in.
