It’s hard not to love Iceland

Why does he still take them then? Is it on name rather than merit?

That's been a problem with Argentina for a while now.

Just turned the game on, how have Iceland been playing?

Apparently only the third Argentinian to miss a penalty during a game in the world cup

At Barcelona Suarez isn’t much better statistically. Maybe Countinho will take over next season. But yeah, I guess? Idk.

That’s an identical penalty to Ronaldo’s yesterday...

    What. A. Tackle.

Could see Messi slotting that away.

That Messi touch was beautiful. The tackle even more so. Wonderful glimpse of the game.

This ref forgot his cards for both teams apparently

Think the ref has been very very good today for the most part.

Agreed. But a couple players with repeated tough challenge (#8 on Iceland has at least four) I’ve been surprised to not seen cautioned. Especially with how tight the previous days have been called.

Of all defensive teams I've seen, I think I enjoy watching Iceland defend the most. There's something so beautiful in the simplicity of what they're doing. No one is shirking responsibility, they're tracking runners, they're all not afraid to stick a foot in and they're generally very good with the accuracy of their tackles.

True, I like to see this kind of refereeing performance than previous games though. Ref has let the game breathe and it's created a really engrossing game.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything dirty. No dark arts, or treading the line of cheating. Just honest, impressive defending. I'd love to see more sides defend like this if they needed to.

Give me heart and clean fight 10 out of 10 times and I’ll fall in love

Yep agreed. Imagine they had another forward player with the skill of Sigurdsson. I'd like to see that.

Seeing Messi make that run with the chip coming to the middle to meet him will always make my heart flutter.

After this World Cup, if Messi never represents Argentina again I wouldn’t hold it against him. Their media/Maradona is gonna SKEWER him after this.
