Really going out on a limb with these underdogs, y'know

 

I'm really interested in that France group, as I could see any of the other three teams qualifying from their group. Peru, Australia and Denmark all have strengths and weaknesses (although you would say Aus are the weakest, I could see them causing an upset).

 

If France put in the performances their team are capable of, they could be a real force this summer. Whether they can get all the players performing though, less clear...

Shaqiri seems a strange choice for Spurs. Seems the type to disrupt the dressing room.

 

I have a Germany / France final. So going by most of my predictions since 2002 both will get knocked out in the group

 

We can hope.

 

Doing that predictor I realized Argentina/Spain meet super early (QF, I believe) if they both win their group and that was my initial thought for a final awhile back.

I’ve got Spain over Brazil or Germany. Can’t remember which I chose to lose right now.

 

I drew Spain in my family's sweepstake. Spain, Colombia & Iceland. Can't complain.

 

My predictor has a QF lineup of:

Uruguay
France

Brazil
England

Spain
Argentina

Germany
Belgium

I couldn't decide much past that with absolute certainty, although I would expect France v Brazil and Spain v Germany as the semi finals.

 

Does anyone think Russia will get out of their group?

 

Think there's a few teams who will be hard to predict. England and Belgium are good examples. If either team get off to a flyer, you could see them giving most teams a hard time. But, both teams have got form for not really doing as well as they should with the players they have...

Argentina are a tricky one too. My memory of them last time around was that Messi pretty much dragged them through the competition. Not sure whether the rest of the squad is looking better now than four years ago.

 

Thought the Russian team was a bit of a mess at the minute. Egypt without Salah don't sound much of anything. I'd expect Uruguay to take that group easily and then the other 3 just scrabbling around trying to win maybe one game to go through second.

 

I predict Russia will be out at the Group Stage. They really are a bad team.

 

I had that same QF grouping, I’m pretty sure.

I don’t think russia makes the last 16.

Part of me thinks the knockouts will only be UEFA and CONMEBOL. Mexico being the only one I think that could sneak into the last 16.

 

Also Rafa Marquez is playing his sixth World Cup like wtf dude

 

It's the first time for a while that none of the African teams (particularly with Salah's fitness in doubt) stand out.
