Egypt will make it out. They're better than Russia

Not a big football fan but world cup is here in Russia this year and some games are even in my city so this championship will obviously get my attention.

Really great first game for Russia but I'm not sure about the future ones. Egypt is pretty strong. But this game is pretty cool and unexpected considering overall pessimism of russian football fans

Glad to hear people are enjoying it! I actually wondered if you were based near any of the games!

Yeah I actually live a 45-minute-walk away from Saint-Petersburg Stadium. We have these games

    Marocco - Iran
    Russia - Egypt
    Brasil - Costa Rica
    Nigeria - Argentina
and one of semi-finals if I'm not mistaken.

The stadium was open last year and look pretty cool. But at the same time it is widely known as "corruption memorial" because they have "spend" so much time and money on it. First they said they'll spend 14 billions of rubles on it (about 223 000 000$ ) and promised to open it in March of 2009. But when they finally opened it in 2017 the cost was about 50 billions rubles (about 800 000 000$). A hell lot of money was stolen by corrupt officials. Go figure.

i'm not that big football fan to spend a lot of money on ticket (I thought that visiting Lorde and Rise Against shows is a better way to spend some cash) but I think I will go see some games on the big screen in official fan-zone.

The best thing about FIFA World Cup this year is that they opened subway station 15 minutes away from my home.

Well even my friends who are huge football fans couldn't get tickets to any game. The ticket system is complicated and based on some kind of lottery.

Holy fuck. Shit like this make me angry as fuck. Though it looks like it was more like a robbery than a hate crime. These fuckers thought that if guys are foreigners than they have money. I mean Russia has a lot of great people who are glad that cup is here because they wanna show some love and hospitality to our guests whatever races, genders or sexual orientations they have. But then some fuckers ruin it all. Thanks to scumbags like these all the world thinks that Russia is some kind of zoo

I've heard the official fan zones are very fun, so definitely make sure you go watch a game there. And enjoy! :)

  10. Will transfer business basically be dead during the cup?

It was the same at the 2006 World Cup. I applied for 7 tickets (which was the maximum allowed) and was lucky to get 1. Most of my friends didn't get any tickets at all.

But as others have said, you should definitely go to the fan fests.

  12. Egypt-Uruguay is gonna be awesome today

    I do not exist.

I've annoyingly got a doctor's appointment right in the middle of it!

Looking forward to Portugal vs Spain as me and my wife ended up with both of those teams in our family sweepstake.

Just watched the highlights of the Russia match. Their finishing was really nice. I mean, the Saudis pretty much gave them it, but still.

I'm going to miss Spain Portugal, as I have to retrieve my sister from the coach station. :(

On a totally different topic... hoping this is money well spent and not some bad and overly expensive business.

Uruguay’s squad is probably my favorite dark horse candidate. Even more so than Belgium. Hard to bet against a Suarez/Cavani front line with Godin/Gimenez in the backline.

Their best bet is probably to go for beating Russia and the Saudis anyway. Might be better to leave him out of this one. Uruguay are hardly known for being shrinking violets.

it is weird to see someone on their 26th birthday that is treated like a god by their country hahaha

Seeing all these empty seats is absurd...but also exactly why you don't hold this tournament in Russia.

Can't wait to see absolutely no one attend Qatar.

Also, how the hell are they gonna fit that many stadiums in that tiny place?
