Man, I always thought it was Barcelona who was trying to bring down Spain from the inside.

It’s all an elaborate scheme to get Neymar to come to Madrid. Sabotaging one of the two teams with the squad to beat Brazil. /baselessprediction

    Final Line-Up:

$5 buy-in to be PayPal'd to the winner/runner-up at the end of the tournament. I'll direct that a little bit later. Ended up with two extra people, so I'm taking the modified one when we only had 12 that seemed to be alright with most folks and tweaking it.

Whoever draws Brazil, Germany, Belgium, and Portugal (FIFA 1-4) will receive one team for the tournament, only making them eligible for the 75% of the pot. The other 14 users will receive two teams, one from each column determined by ranking. If you bottom fourteen column teams makes the final and wins, it's the only way to win 100% of the pot.

    Top 18 Team Wins: 75%
    Finals Loser: 25%

    Bottom 14 Team Wins: 100%

Bottom 14 vs Bottom 14 reverts to the initial 75/25 split.

When USA hosted a world cup in the 90's the players were physically destroyed from all the travelling, and it resulted in one of the worst tournaments in living memory (I mean, I was a baby but I watched old world cups when I was younger). They need to ensure that teams aren't playing a game in Mexico City, then one in Miami, and then one in New York/Toronto.

In other words, this tournament needs to be planned meticulously.

  7. It shouldn’t be that hard. Just have each group in a specific region.

  8. Excited for the draw. Hopefully I don’t get Poland again.

Copa America 2016, I believe, was set up that way, but I could be wrong. We host the Gold Cup every two years and the Lady Nats host an East Coast and a West Coast tournament every summer. I think we'll be better about big tournament hosting in general this time around. We're about the same size as Brazil and their World Cup went off fine...

That would be the logical solution, but FIFA don't think like that. they'll want Brazil/Argentina/Germany/Spain playing in all three countries for $$$$$$

I got Russia in 2014 and that was so anticlimactic.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

That stops working when they get into the knockout phase and they find that their bases are suddenly nowhere near where their games are being played.

People are moaning about this for Russia. Covering the entire North American continent is going to be a lot harder. It's also a total mess for fans who want to go to games.

It's less the North American organisation/intentions I would worry about and more FIFA aha.

2026 is a long ways off but I hope DC gets a cool match I can go to.

  15. I’m close enough to Atlanta, Nashville, and DC. I will definitely go to a couple games.

Ah true. I think it's a nice part of our bid that all of our stadiums are already built with already planned renovations. We're not going to be taxing any cities with stadiums that won't be used, etc.

I know it won't happen (I'm predicting New York or Dallas, since LA got the last one), but I'd love the final to be in the new stadium in Atlanta.

Ah, damn. The list of 17 US cities will be cut to the final 10 in 2021.

  18. New York, LA, SF, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Philadelphia, DC, Seattle seem to be locks. I don’t know who’d get the final spot. Maybe Boston or Chicago.

Chicago pulled themselves out of contention. It's kinda crazy that's there's not a single non-coastal state city but Dallas. Minneapolis isn't in the final 17, or else I'd say they're a lock with the Vikings stadium.

There would have to be something in the "middle of the country" so probably Chicago
