Having taken a penalty at just lowly school youth team level, i cannot fathom how the nerves don’t get to more of these players.

I was the best penalty taker on our team. I rarely if ever missed in league games or in training. Always won penalty competitions amongst our team. I missed every single penalty taken in a knockout match. Still have nightmares about them. Nightmares maybe not the right word but they often come back to my mind.

Feel so bad for the Brazil players. They had such a great tournament.

 

Yeah I was a right back but I was the penalty taker. Very similar. Learnt I do very badly under pressure lol.

This tournament has just totally opened up. Argentina, Netherlands, Portugal, England, France, Croatia, Morocco. Really do think any of them could genuinely win it.

 

Haha yep. Right back penalty taker here too. I vividly remember one, I was aiming to my right the whole time during the walk up and the run up. Inexplicably I shot to the left, which I rarely did. Scraped the edge of the post and went wide. I couldn’t even explain to myself why I decided to do the opposite of what I had planned.
