Poor game. England were so insipid - exactly the kind of 2022 Southgate performance I expected against this World Cup. To be honest, I was surprised we scored so many against Iran - I think it was a case that they were having a bad day.

I’d say Maguire was my man of the match.

USA was always going to be difficult. Fairly good performance without being incisive. With more cutting edge you should have won convincingly to be honest.

Big game against Wales now - due to the emotion it’s perhaps the hardest. I know we need to lose by 4 goals to go out but need a result for momentum.

 

Also, can we talk about McKennie wiping his hands on a photographer being one of the most entitled things I’ve seen from a footballer? I know not against any rules I just found it to be arrogant and rude and I was not impressed. Changed my opinion of him.

Do people agree? Am I being over the top? Never seen anything like it.

He did use the FIFA photographer vest and not their personal clothing, if that helps at all. And the photographer seemed to smile about it, we don’t really know if anything was said between them to make it okay, either.

Looking at the rest of the matches for this second round, it’s not inconceivable for Qatar to be the only team eliminated before the final match day as well as no one clinch the knockouts. Do I expect that to happen? Nope. But it would be very funny.
