Today's Games: Group B: 3pm Switzerland v Canada: draw sees both teams through with Canada as the group winner, a win for either wins the group with the loser most likely still coming in second in the group, unless Bosnia can make up the goal differential Canada currently has in defeating Qatar in light of a Canada loss. Bosnia vs Qatar: A winner in this game most likely gets to travel and play the US (unless Bosnia scores 7+ and Canada lose), a draw and both go home. (For USMNT fans: we have a 78% chance of playing the winner of this game (if there is one) according to the 495 permutations of how the third place teams will be distributed.) Group C: 6pm Brazil vs Scotland: Brazil want to win the group and Scotland are most likely through as long as they keep the scoreline respectable... but Brazil need to run the score up depending on what Morocco is doing vs Haiti. Morocco vs Haiti: Their mission is to score more than Brazil did. Haiti's out. Group A: 9pm Mexico vs Czech Republic: The Czechs desperately need a win to have any chance of qualifying for the knockouts. Ochoa is getting his home country send off game since Mexico have nothing to play for. South Korea vs South Africa: SK is through in 2nd with a win or draw, and likely through in 3rd with a loss. SA needs a win to jump into 2nd; a draw or loss sends them home.
I missed "Alaj" in front of Alajbegovic, so I was quite shocked at first there when Begovic the goalkeeper in my mind scored a screamer.
You know, far be it from me to say I know what men are like, but I reckon she doesn’t have all of those followers for her incredible psychic abilities…
That said, would I still have to go work tomorrow if aliens abducted the Brazil & Scotland teams on live TV?
Today I am Bosnian in Seattle WA USA. Me, my sister, my best friend, and his toddler have adopted the team for the match.
Something I haven’t seen mentioned is how being in a later group is massively advantageous in this format, because you have a much better idea of what you might need to do to be one of the best third place teams. Feels like a flaw.
