Nothing is going to happen. Maybe they'll get a suspension after the final. But FIFA is far too cowardly to do anything about it

Yamal should just come out with a Free Palestine sign

Has to be one the weirdest geopolitical disputes. They are not and never have been Argentinian, and literally no one living there wants to leave the UK. They tried to invade and lost badly, yet still try to claim them. Quite funny.

Just out of interest did anyone work out what formation England were using when they had 4 centre-backs on the pitch?

I assume Konsa went to RB but was O'Reilly in midfield?

That's what the commentators said but honestly I'm not sure. When the subs were first made, there was a clear 5-4-1 but when Argentina kept attacking, Kane was isolated and the midfield just kind of absorbed into the centre of defence. It was an absolute mess and Tuchel has to take some sort of blame for that.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Tuchel's comments after the game have me a bit concerned. I do think it was a bit of a joint effort, but it's crazy to not admit that the subs in particular were all wrong.

Like, a lot of the issues still rest with the players (as soon as we scored and Argentina really fired up, we just buckled completely), but I don't understand how we weren't able to sort ourselves out at the hydration break, which is again, something Tuchel should have been doing, since the players on the pitch hadn't been able to steady themselves.

I wonder what will happen now, as I think we extended his contract before the tournament. If he actually sees that some of his decisions were crap and takes away a load of experience from managing at an international tournament for the first time, then I don't see why he couldn't have us doing a more job at the Euros in 2 years.

However, there's still some classic Tuchel-ness that I'd worry about. The bizarre squad selection, the right back mess, not having a properly drilled defensive unit and his seemingly random ousting/love of players that nobody else can explain are all worrying features.

It’s quite wild how many similarities Tuchel and Jurgen Klinnsman have when I think back on how all that went down here

I may be over-reaching here but I think Tuchel is done because I think his authority is now going to fall under question, like has happened to Mourinho

You get to do the whole 'my way or the highway' thing for precisely as long as your approach is winning matches and no longer, he chose to attack his players in public and I think they are well within their rights to say that he needs to take responsibility for the decisions last night that put the players under pressure

Hypotheticals are the laziest form of criticism because they're basically unfalsifiable but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who disagrees that the right-back situation was a disaster waiting to happen (if anything, Reece James being fit last night has bailed Tuchel out somewhat in that regard) and that the tactical changes last night changed the flow of the game for the worse. That's not saying that someone else would have automatically done better, but the manner of last night's defeat was especially disappointing.

I don't think the FA will sack him but if anything goes wrong in Euro 2028 qualifying the media will circle him very quickly.

Also Bellingham should get a ban for that, absolutely unacceptable behaviour.

The best England played all tournament were the opening 10 minutes of the 2nd half against Croatia and they made a massive deal of Tuchels half time speech... he said he told the team it was okay to lose, but lets lose our way... IE attacking...

I know that was a group game they could have recovered from, but that same speech at the hydration break against Argentina would have been usefull...

This hurts more than any Southgate loss tbh. What a crash out... 12% of the ball after going a goal up in a tight game with few chances where Argentina had been 2 things all tournament - weak at the back but clinical in winning tight games late when given a chance.

Also a lot of talk after Ghana about 'see how we can play when the other team decides to join us and play'

A semi final is an achievement id normally be proud of but im just mad ha. More so after sleeping on it... i dont know how he thought shutting down our ability to counter and absorbing pressure for 20 minutes was going to work. Especially since i thought he was the type of coach to avoid that unless needed (ex Mexico).

Tuchel said, mostly, all the right things but then didnt set them up to play the way he talked.

revision: i would have been dead from alcohol poisoning by 5:07am this morning after my alarm went off at 5, so perhaps switch to water and get hydrated my kings and queens (or powerade, the official fifa sponsor of the hydration break)

Old man moment: I have no idea who IShowSpeed is or why anyone should care what he thinks or supports in the World Cup, but it's absolutely hilarious how every single team he's supported in person has lost... except the time he wore an Argentina jersey trying to reverse jinx it.

As we prepare for a new club season I would like to thank Thomas Tuchel for adding more fuel to Kobbie Mainoo’s fire and really pushing him into demon mode heading into 26/27
