I don’t think Canada have been “bullies” at all. Morocco just throw themselves to the ground way too easily in what is a physical game. Not as much as Egypt though, who are extraordinary at it.
And yet four yellows to two. So seems like Canada are doing more small fouls and Morroco are doing more egregious fouls?
I don’t have an issue with how either team have played it honestly. Neither team is breaking anyone’s ankles, so have at it, I say.
Would be quite funny watching Canada get smashed by France in the next round though. They’d get murdered.
I do get what you mean but I don't think Canada have been 'dirty' per se. They've played a physical game - football isn't a non-contact sport, and there's nothing wrong with that. Some of those get called as fouls but that's the price to pay. Both teams have been quite physical I think, but it's still been a very watchable game. Plus you can minus 1 from the fouls list for the bullshit called on the ST going for the ball on the keeper.
Canada can be proud of their campaign. They don’t have the individual quality, so this felt like their absolute limit, but hopefully this relative success helps make the game more popular over there.
Canada didn’t beat a single quality team in this competition, so they have to be thrilled how the draw and knockout rounds played out scheduling wise. I’m happy for them to have achieved the success they did. Davies injury timing really just couldn’t be more unfortunate. Morocco is legit and hopefully the continue to be successful
I haven’t thought about it 100% but I think with 64 teams we should get rid of the qualifier playoffs and start the tournament there. Like going from 64 down to 48
