Guhhh, new version of Swim sounds really strange; whatever echo effect they have going does not work. Sounds like a 128 mp3. "Bite" sounds the same way; shit, the whole album sounds like this
are you listening to it on spotify? sounds fine to me. i heard that the leaked version from yesterday or whatever sounded like it had some sort of echo effect or something. i don't hear any issues with what's on spotify though.
Yeah I'm listening on Spotify; seems very apparent to me. All the tracks sound different from the tracks they released before this album. Maybe it's just my headphones not able to take whatever is going on; I'll have to try with my studio headphones when I get home. Seems like they wanted the vocals right up front, but the instruments farther in the background, and then the background effects somewhere in the middle. It doesn't seem aligned up
Listened to this while cleaning the house today. Definitely good. I seemed to enjoy the back half or so more than the front half. I will return to it for sure. Good rec.
Midnight is so good. I love useless and she as well. She doesn’t seem to fit into the rest of the tracks but I enjoy it. I miss some of the subtlety of the original Paris but I still Like the redone version. I actually really love heartbroken too but don’t love bite, rotation, or hard to be myself
Been an enormous fan of this band for years, but I’m feeling a little underwhelmed after my first few listens. The new songs are fine, but that’s all they really are. Nothing gives me the same rush or thrill like hearing the original versions of “Swim”, “Paris” and “Velvet” for the first time. It might also be the sequencing, though. I’m just finding it a bit tough to get through. When you’ve already heard over half the album for years it’s a real challenge to make it flow seamlessly. I’m sure I’ll get used to it and eventually love this for what it is in time, but for now it’s just not doing it for me.
Definitely enjoy this on first listen, but it sure is a lot of the same thing, could have used a bit more diversity. Either way, fun release, solid band, I look forward to them sticking around a while
Anyone else feel like this should've been trimmed to 10-12 songs? I get kind of lost after Say No More to Brooklyn.
ya i got like 4 songs in and then saw how many were left and peaced. have to give it some time when i have that much time.
This is so solid. Feel like I've been waiting for this album for a really long time. Tons of great jams on this.
