I’ve always said, even if this band’s music isn’t something you’re into (which is perfectly fine, I get they aren’t for everyone), their messaging is hopefully something everyone can get behind. Three wonderful people with great heads on their shoulders trying to be a positive force in this world.
If anyone didn’t catch the demonstration today, I urge you to check it out even if you aren’t much a fan of the music. It was incredibly powerful, and had me in tears more than once.
They’re fantastic musicians and stellar at what they do, but it continually disappoints me that they can’t make something as politically devastating as Cheek. or fun/groovy as anything off of TBB
Wanted to do something a little different with this one, but I understand the sentiment. Lots of that in store for LP2, I promise you that.
Watched part of that demonstration and the emo nite talk with Jason in it, and it is just so great to have a voice like this in the scene. He articulates the struggles black people have dealt with both in and out of the music scene so well. I'm happy for all the attention this band is getting even if I haven't personally enjoyed anything Jason's done since TBB.
