I haven't thought about The Reunion Show in decades and have seen them mentioned twice on this site today. What a blast from the past.
brian diaz is the man who brought down jesse lacey on facebook , he got the conversation started and yah, i feel like that is bigger than his old band these days..
yah i was bummed they didn't play it the last time i saw them which was a long time ago, but it was a good mix of the albums and the ep, could've done without the nirvana cover Fenix TX Concert Setlist at Lincoln Hall, Chicago on April 7, 2016 | setlist.fm
i saw a video last night on IG of them playing all my fault with their new singer from with con and it was not good, bummer, but will's voice is in the bands DNA
Bingo! Kinda been my point from the beginning. No one noticed or cared because its Fenix tx...a band that hasn't played in 15+ years really. I have no idea what the band looks like really m so when the sound techs said "alright let's do this were Fenix tx..." i kinda laughed. Take what you can get, new guy sounded fine but in the end getting to hop around to Fenix tx songs for the first time was a blast. Will would've been the cherry on top but in the end its better than nothing.
They also sorta took a shot at Will at the end of the set which I caught lol "Dont let any ONE person get in your way of accomplishing your dreams and doing what you wanna do...." Does anyone know the actual deal? Is it will that doesn't wanna do it...and why? Or do they hate each other?
If they toured with this new singer I no way would I buy a ticket. But......if I was at a festival like this and they were on the schedule with no conflicts? Yeah I'd totally check it out and have a blast. Even if it is basically Fenix TX karaoke, its a fun way to kick off a nostalgia filled day.
from what i said they didn't invite him back, so i feel he wasn't a fan of what they were doing lately? i dunno, the creep EP was super mid and did absolutely nothing for them, but they were fantastic on the tour for it with UL so i dunno what happened after that besides adam getting and beating cancer. they just became active after that
I love Spooky Action at a Distance, but yea... the rest was average at best. I've listened to that EP maybe a dozen times and can never recall any of the other songs tbh
I think I might have said it before, but they’ve always been a pretty volatile band. I recall “Lechuza” was a pretty draining process for everyone and multiple band members quit (who are back for this.). After that, they couldn’t hold it together for more than a tour or so. I don’t begrudge anyone having fun seeing them. I mean, this happens with 20+ year old bands a lot and sometimes even more egregiously (look at Third Eye Blind or The Police). It’s the fact that they were super secretive about Will not being there and him being shut out of the whole conversation when they’re singing nothing but song with lyrics that he wrote and performed. Like, at the very least, I hope he’s getting some royalties on this.
yah right? i bought the cd to support when it dropped, and average is the perfect way to explain it. it is definitely listenable but after all those years away it was a letdown for sure.
i met will when i was a kid and one of the first things he mentioned to me was that DTR owed the band royalties.. nicest dude! he was the first 'band guy' i met so i had to pump myself up to go up and approach him
thanks for sharing these never heard em before! love the sound of 'Nothing Seems Bigger Than This' never heard that style from them before makes me sad will isn't singing no more :(
