Would be nice to have a “read later” option or a way to save a thread in a little database linked to my account. Sometimes I’ll be somewhere I can’t listen to audio but I’ll see a thread on chorus about a band releasing a new song. Occasionally it gets lost in the ether. But something like YouTube’s “watch later” list.
If I add the main page to my iPhone Home Screen as a web app: 1) is there a way for the icon to show that I have notifications? 2) is there a way to navigate back to the news page from the comments with scroll position memory?
1) Notifications badge Not currently; iOS doesn’t allow web apps added to the home screen to update their icon with notification badges like native apps d lo afaik. I’ll look more. I have a note to look at push notifications but haven’t had time to look in detail. 2) Scroll position Not by default, but we could improve this, though it requires some custom changes probably. Made a note to look more.
1) It may be a newer feature, but this came to mind because another page I added as a web app last month does have push notifications and the notifications badge. The developer did note that push notification only work if it’s saved as a web app, and you must first log in before you save it as a web app. 2) Not really necessary if there isn’t a reason to save it as a web app. With the normal page I just use the safari navigation buttons.
