Oh I know, I thought there was a "select all" button so I wouldn't have to click each one separately. Sorry >_<'
I like the top quoted and liked comments thread ideas. Good way to facilitate quality conversation and bring those that missed the original comments into the fold.
Just an idea and I've really never seen this done on a message board before. Is it possible to have new posts appear in real time without reloading? Some stuff becomes more like a chat and it makes it easier than hitting reload a bunch. I noticed I get a notification in real time at the bottom of the page.
I like the notification method personally, but it is in that sweet spot that hovers right above the post button. I often have to dismiss those before I can post, else wait for it to go away.
The only other thing would be to have the top bar or notification bar in a thin line still travel down the page with you.
That would be a chat, which is fundamentally different than a message board. There are fantastic chat apps and group chat apps that are far better suited for that.
I agree but at the same time there are 'chat' threads. It was just a thought I had during the Duke game.
The 'More Options' button in the reply box on the mobile site opens a separate page (/add-reply) with the follow/email notification checkboxes being the only additional options (excluding 'Insert Quotes' since that is an option on the thread page). Any chance the 'More Options' button could just open a menu with the follow/receive notification checkboxes on it?
also is there a way to have a "quote" button in the RTE to automatically insert [ quote ] [ / quote ] ?
Landscape mode on "more options" on mobile has a bunch of other things, including mobile attachments, and extra emoji.
@Jason Tate not sure if this is doable but is there a way to upload pictures from the camera roll on mobile directly into a post? edit: lol nevermind i see you literally just discussed this
Hah, it was just recently added and I'm playing with it some still - but it does work and is pretty cool.
Maybe placing a blue dot next to threads with unread posts? I realize that those are bold as of right now, but, at least on mobile, it's hard to discern the difference sometimes.
I agree with the observation on mobile. I've been basically counting down from the top the number of notifications I had to start at the beginning of what I missed.
Yeah, I'm gonna take a look at this again. I didn't do it to begin with because of the space it was taking up and it looked weird — I'll see if there's something I can come up with.
I played with that a little and I didn't like how it looked on the forums, because it would shift the boxes too much to give them an extra border. And I didn't want to add a border to all of them. Where I've noticed this the most is on dark theme, mobile, is that the same for you @phaynes1? The bold seems to stick out way better for me on the white theme. For the time being, until I can maybe come up with a better idea, I've upped the "unread" link contrast a little bit on the dark theme so that it sticks out just a little bit more against the background compared to unread threads. I'll keep thinking about it as well.
