Seeing this thread bumped was one of the most unintentionally cruel things someone has done to me on the internet, hahahaha
now you know how I feel every time someone bumps the Apleeseed Cast, MovMou or *especially* the Wrens thread
I remember first listening to it and really only liking Hag and Mouth, thinking it was not a solid record at all. But over the years it just continues to grow on me. Listened to it a couple months ago for the first time in awhile and fell in love all over again
I remember that my introduction to this band was a little weird. In 2004 I went to Best Buy in search of their first album after I heard On the Brightside. I didn’t pay enough attention and bought Art Damage on accident. I remember listening that first time and I was so confused because it sounded like an entirely different band. I was actually pissed that I wasted my money. But within a few months I grew to love it and the rest is history. I actually think their first album is the worst now.
If Hopesfall can come back and Thursday can play Full Collapse & War All The Time back to back, then maybe anything can happen. I'll try to tone down my pessimism haha. That being said, I've always wanted to know where this band would have gone if they'd continued their sound progression from the Fear Before record. It really grew on me.
The funny thing about this band is they all apparently want to play together again. At least that's what Dave and Adam made it sound like on the podcast. It's just that there isn't any initiative. It's not like Thursday which is like this big dynamic whirlwind of personality, these guys just...haven't lol
I have a poster from the record release show of The Always Open Mouth that my wife had framed for me. I’ll post a picture later this evening when I get home from work.
