Favorite Closing Song on an Album

What are some of your favorite album closers? The two for me that immediately come to mind are "Several Ways To Die Trying" by Dashboard Confessional, and "23" from Jimmy Eat World.

 

"Inner City Blues" by Marvin Gaye immediately comes to mind for me, partly because I've been listening to Marvin a lot these last few days.

Goodbye Sky Harbor, Autumn Leaves Revisited, I'll Get By, Dark Places, and Play Crack the Sky are some of my favorites

 

"Jungleland." Done.

 

I'll have to check this out.

 

These are both perfect, for sure. I was listening to A Mark, A Mission for the first time in awhile this week, and I was surprised at how well it holds up--that song in particular.

 

Haha I was actually listening to it a couple of weeks ago myself. There's just something about that song that I really love. Honestly probably one of my favorite songs. Love the little jam session towards the end too.

 

I agree with these 100%. I basically think all Jimmy Eat World closers are perfect.

My favorite of all time is probably "Dance Dance Christa Paffgen" by Anberlin.

 

dendron is up there for me. i'd also say happiness by the kilowatt by alexisonfire, i just want to sell out my funeral by the wonder years and decrescendo by rx bandits are a few good ones.

I also love "Heaven Here," from Dusk and Summer. Chris typically saves something special for the closing track.

 

Yeah but Vindicated is the last song on Dusk and Summer

 

Pretty sure my copy doesn't have "Vindicated" on there. It does have the hidden track before "Don't Wait" though.

 

First one that comes to mind is "New Way Home" by Foo Fighters off of The Colour and the Shape.

Definitely, "Happiness By the Kilowatt," from Alexisonfire's Watch Out!.

 

This song is such a downer. Especially the live piano version that Dallas Green released on the City and Colour live album.

 

It is, but that doesn't change the fact that it's phenomenal!

 

Ha, true! Besides, just about every Dallas Green song is a downer.

 

He's one of my favorite songwriters. He's just too good at writing sad songs.
