I missed this earlier, but I think Give Up is better than any Owl City album. But I think Owl City was really good at one point. His production is some of my favorite ever. His newest album is complete shit though.
Radiohead Jimmy Eat World Thursday Britney Spears Christina Aguilera Carly Rae Jepsen Janet Jackson Lenny Kravitz My Chemical Romance Dead Kennedys The Killers One Direction India.Arie Selena Los Campesinos! The Smiths The Cure
I personally really like All Things Bright and Beautiful. At the same time though, Owl City is something I totally get not liking or even hating.
I like Maybe I'm Dreaming, Ocean Eyes and All Things Bright and Beautiful. There were a couple songs on Midsummer Station I liked, and the Ultraviolet EP was cool. Mobile Orchestra is complete shit though. Hate that album so much.
1. My Chemical Romance - 4 albums 2. fun. - 2 albums 3. Fightstar - 4 albums 4. City Sleeps - 1 album 5. The Smiths - 4 albums 6. The Postal Service - 1 album 7. Acceptance - 1 album 8. The Format - 2 albums 9. Charlie Simpson - 2 albums 10. Copeland - 5 albums 11. There Will Be Fireworks - 2 albums 12. The Reign of Kindo - 3 albums 13. Busted - 2 albums 14. The 1975 - 2 albums 15. Babymetal - 2 albums This is what my list looks like if I take averages. No discographies over 5 albums end up making it and it feels way less accurate to me in terms of who I think of when I think of my favourite bands.
How many bands did you average? haha I have like 130 bands in my iTunes, averaging them all would take forever I feel.
I did about 30 or so. There was no point doing ones that I knew had no chance of making the list, ha.
I do not like Owl City, haha. It's worse than I remember them being when I initially listened. At it's best it sounds like a super cheesy version of Mae sent through a Postal Service filter.
Yeah, never really expect anyone else to like Owl City. I always wished I could get into Thursday, I have Full Collapse but it just doesn't really connect with me.
You tried No Dev? Definitely their best imo. Full Collapse is one of the weaker ones I've heard from them.
Yeah FC is an absolute masterpiece and its only like the 5th best Thursday record lol. If you're looking to get into Thursday id suggest War All The Time then forward from there. If you like the more spacey/synth/ambient side then ACBTLD will be your best friend. Common Existence is the more aggressive cousin to WATT with a couple curveballs thrown in, and ND is a more textured and post-rock-ish take on the Thursday sound and is probably their best record. The progression they make is incredible. Thursday and Copeland are my go to bands when talking about great progression album to album.
If I did averages my list would be totally different and wouldn't reflect how I feel at all. Christina aguilera is always in my lists but she only has one album I truly love all the way through. I think most artists I really love have some duds or just average albums in there. I don't need consistency just one great album (tho consistency is ideal too lol).
Really looking foward to the new material. Just happened to find the Southsiders LP for under 30€ yesterday and been spinning it all weekend. Just wish they'd play Europe more.
I'll these out then, thanks! One of those bands I always wanted to like and I guess I may have wrongly began with what (I think) is their most popular album.
FC is definitely their most popular, and many would argue their best, but I think the other 4 offer a lot more. Waiting, their first record, is really good too. Just not up to par with the other 5
This is my top 10 in no order: David Bowie Bruce Springsteen Fleetwood Mac Bjork Kanye West Marylin Manson My Chemical Romance Hotelier Menzingers The World is a Beautiful Place
Random question, but how do you listen to I Brought You My Bullets? I have the CD somewhere from back in the day, but I can't find it. It's not on iTunes to buy or on any streaming service.
