Lol Pitchforks gonna Pitchfork. I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of the new songs.

  7. well I think there is a difference between reading pitchfork (as I do with numerous music sites) and taking the Fork as the final word on music

but I think you know what I meant.

oh no i mean when things get a certain reaction i always go read it for myself i dont blame you but also god fuck the importance everyone puts on them, its completely unwarranted at this point they aren't an important publication at all the way they used to be. the name pitchfork doesnt carry anymore weight than consequence, stereogum, fact, fader, spin, even though at one time it did.

  9. and honestly I find CoS a lot better than the Fork

after that tyler the creator review i refuse to call CoS better than anyone, they're probably the worst in my eyes now

I like p4k for BNT cause it’s a great resource for finding stuff they don’t highlight otherwise. When a record I like gets BNM it’s great bc it usually means some boost in exposure. But idk if anyone around here even takes them as gospel anymore.

I came here just to say Pitchfork is obviously ready to turn on FJM.
I like the song fine and think it is likely going to be about him struggling to deal with heartbreak in the context of the album.

Idk, I'm not really feeling it tbh. I kinda agree with P4K on this one.

He has stated before this will likely be a break-up album. Made me think the new track could be a post-break-up bender type situation.

That's fair. I just described it to a colleague as a welcome step back from the OTT Pure comedy. Breezy, funny, simple. The anti-Pure Comedy.
And I really like Pure Comedy. But I don't know how much more of that I need in my life haha.

This is a weird grievance of mine, but generally I don't like it when artists try to put out too much material within a year or so. Even like staggered double albums or whatever. The second part just never lands as good as the first. This new song kinda leaves me feeling ho hum. I'll keep an open mind for FJM though.

I always feel weary too. And this song was just alright imo, but I’m still excited

I like a quick succession of albums -- if the artist is on a hot streak. Just keep rolling while you're on. I do appreciate a 12-month breather at least (as will be the case here).
A recent example people were discussing in another thread related to Brian Fallon. He put out The 59 Sound, American Slang, Elsie and Handwritten in under five years. I think they're all great.
Also basically every classic rock artist went at a ridiculous clip (look at CCR, amazing) and they put out some pretty decent music lol. For some writers it can be a great idea imo.

All that said, the FJM press cycle is a LOT more draining than most others haha.

yall should try keeping up with hip-hop artists, one album every year is fucking nothing
