Since I bumped this thread:

I still really love this record but honestly it hasn't had even 10% of the staying power Honeybear did. Pretty confident in saying it's my 3rd favorite FJM album.

 

That's insane. I still haven't even fully processed Pure Comedy haha

 

If Ryan Adams is still angry about the 1989 thing FJM did then he needs to learn to take himself less seriously.

 

No I get it! He did have this weird character/shtick thing going on, but idk, I think it's always been something genuine that's also been embellished a bit, like most songwriters/creatives do. Like, I can't imagine writing an album this dense and not being genuine about its subject matter, regardless of how its presented.

And the Chuck E. Cheese post is separated from that, obviously lol

With Ryan Adams it's a "throwing stones in glass houses" situation for sure. For my money, the guy who's most recent contribution to the world that people actually cared about was turning a well regarded pop album into Starbucks background filler needs to chill. At least FJM has some self awareness.

 

Ryan Adams can't hold a flame to FJM. Super talented guy, no one to be throwing shade.

The Seth Meyers interview is great. I love listening to him talk, and there were some hilarious moments.

I keep forgetting about it, but I'm seeing him again a week from today and I'm so excited!

 

Seeing him Tuesday! And yeah I laughed all the way through that interview. Good stuff.
