This is pretty funny and I feel like Pitchfork is missing the point. Not that the article offered much commentary, but the whole "he left out all the topical parts!" seems like a criticism.
Yea my deluxe vinyl came today and I'm currently listening to the whole thing for the first time. On Leaving LA at the moment. Love it so far, and this deluxe package is cool. I'm having fun changing the sky as I listen haha
Yea this album has a lot to unpack, but I'm excited to do it, which is a good sign. I like the themes on the record, so I'm ready to really dive in with the lyrics. The Memo really stood out on first listen for me. I'm starting at a good place with it, and I have a feeling it will only grow on me from here.
I realize this sounds extremely cynical and insensitive but this album is about to hit me that much harder tomorrow after the missiles directed at Syria tonight Pure fucking comedy man
Alright I've talked enough shit about this guy that I am going to try to actually listen to this all the way through once
I used to too, as a staunch Team Robin member. But then I saw his performance of Ideal Husband on Kimmel and listened to Honeybear (yes, I came kind of late to the party) and it all made sense. Honestly, I wouldn't expect many to get into FJM by starting with this album. It's way too dense.
I'm not starting with this album. I like Fear Fun a lot but wasn't really into Honeybear and some of it was straight bad to me, and everything I've heard from this record is just so much worse.
