Strongly agree. In particular, his Riot Fest performance is probably a top 5 for me. Everyone I talked to - fan or not - who was there said it was incredible.
Wow, so happy to see "A Bigger Paper Bag" on the tracklist. Still contend that Pure Comedy is deeply underrated. Some of my all-time favorite FJM songs are on that album. "Things It Would've Been Helpful to Know..." is scary relevant right now
Perfect. When I saw him last year he closed with that song but he forgot the second verse so he just skipped to the climax haha
Super weird but welcome surprise my brother texted me about today. If you search Old Uncle Jerry on Spotify (and presumably other streaming platforms), there are four unreleased FJM tracks from 2018.
Lol if you google "old uncle jerry father john misty," it looks like he's referred to himself as such at least once in every interview since Pure Comedy (not that there's many). Also refers to it as his alter ego.
I've actually heard these before now that I think of it. At least a couple of them were part of a rarities download on r/fatherjohnmisty
Very welcome news. Wonder if it will all be covers or if the others will be originals. Stoked either way
Per p4k: "The four-track release opens with a new cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Anthem” (from 1992’s The Future). Rounding out the EP are three songs that Misty has previously covered: Link Wray’s “Fallin’ Rain,” Yusuf / Cat Stevens’ “Trouble,” and Leonard Cohen’s “One of Us Cannot Be Wrong.”"
He played a pretty cool song when I saw him live a year ago. Wonder if we’ll get something this year, but I can see him waiting until spring 2021
