Didn’t get into Fear Fun until I fell in love with ILYHB which is probably my 3rd favorite album of the decade. I find myself listening to FF more than any of his albums over the past year or so. I love that he still plays the deep cuts from the early stuff live. It’s always a perfect mix of all his records.
i havent listened to him in a while but that always changes eventually. honeybear is the one i listen to most still but gods favorite customer is pretty close, then fear fun, then pure comedy. thats probably my ranking too
I still ride hard for Pure Comedy but I get why people are so put off by it. I need to go back to God’s Favorite Customer, I don’t think I’ve played it since around the time it came out.
Pure Comedy is my least favorite but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it’s just the least accessible and the most bloated. I’m not always going to want to commit an hour and fifteen minutes to it because it kind of drags on in some points. And something like Leaving LA is the type of thing where I think it’s really cool and I like what he went for, but I’m not going to go back to a ton. But then there’s complete gems like the title track, Revolution, Dying Man and several others.
Exactly my thoughts. I revisit certain songs a ton but I haven't listened all the way through in ages.
Some days, Pure Comedy is my favorite based on how much I listened to it when it came out. Some very underrated deep cuts there. I absolutely adore "A Bigger Paper Bag," "Smoochie," "So I'm Growing Old on Magic Mountain" and "In Twenty Years or So"
I’ve heard Fear Fun probably less than 5 times and it’s just never fully clicked with me. I attribute it mostly to the fact that I got into him with Honeybear which is really such a massive leap forward.
Just looking at my end of decade lists. So far Honeybear (album) is top five. Honeybear (song) top three.
Ha I was just gonna hump this the other day saying how much I missed him but didn’t want anyone to be let down by a random bump. We’re definitely due for one soon.
Were the rumors that Josh and Emma had a baby in early 2019 ever confirmed? If so he should take his time before starting up the machine again.
