I dig it, too. Not sure if it's a placeholder or not though - the photo is from Josh's recent New Yorker profile. There was some speculation that the cover would match the red/gold motif of the recent show announcements/Mr. Tillman single, but I also saw some folks on the FJM facebook can flub suggesting Josh wasn't happy with that cover and likely scrapped it in favor of this one.
thank you i really loved honeybear but i strongly disliked everything i heard off the last one that record is a masterpiece and better than any FJM album
I still maintain that if the music is good, I could care less if the artist has an obnoxious public persona, or is known as an asshole, or egotistical, or whatever. Art isn’t a contest of who I most want to have a beer with, sometimes talented people can be mercurial or difficult to get along with personally. Kanye is well-known for those traits at times, yet he’s also a musical genius in my mind, and ultimately those traits are part of what makes him who he is. Just give me good music.
I wasn’t that into the last album and it wore off on me quickly, but my point still stands that if this is good I’ll listen to it.
I miss the days of Funtimes in Babylon, when I could just listen to his music and enjoy it Now that there's a persona to maintain and coif and stroke every few song titles, I lose interest The artist has become a distraction from his art
Why do people keep saying its the worst and then adding nothing to the banter Obviously everyone in here is interested but these are my thoughts
Not interested. Quite liked Fear Fun though; FJM worked better when I thought it was going to be a one-and-done sort of thing. I was 50/50 on Honeybear & then Pure Comedy was atrocious. Between that and Everything Now being released last year I really hope we've reached peak ironic detachment where this sort of music is concerned.
