most jam band musicians have 10x the knowledge of the instrument/proficiency of non-jammy bands. just say you don't like the music and find it boring lol. they have a better grasp of the "aim" than most people out there

    especially trey specifically lol

Fun (and random) fact: I used to live in the same town as the drummer of Phish. His house was as wacky and imaginative as their music.

I mean yeah that’s true, it’s just boring as fuck to me and I don’t think I’ve ever been high enough to enjoy it.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Freezing cold jam takes in here. Was there for the FJM/Trey/Goose experience and it was absolutely phenomenal.

So just FJM came out for I’m Writing a Novel which was a funny troll because everyone knew Trey was coming out at some point but Goose did:

Reba-esque Jam > drum start to Back on the Train > fakeout and it’s actually I’m Writing a Novel

It was FJM (drums and vocals) and Trey together for the encore which was a cover of Tomorrow Never Knows.

Trey sat in for entire third set which was all Goose originals.

The jam bands are boring rub is funny. Goose throws down a FIVE HOUR SHOW of mostly improv like it’s nothing while most bands in our scene use the same banter from city to city. Different worlds for sure.

That’s the thing though I don’t want to watch 5 hours of musical improv. That’s why I also don’t go to jazz clubs.

  11. Revisiting this now (before the EP)! It's really good. I will say, I was thinking it could rival or even be his best when it was released, but it's definitely a record I have to be in the mood in. That's not a bad thing at all, because when it hits, it hits hard for me. But I don't know if it will make my top 10 for the year.

yeah this one is great but is very much a mood record. i still thrown on GFC all the time, all hours of the day playability.

I’m the opposite where if I’m going to throw this on I have to listen to the entire thing.

I consider FF > ILY, HB > PC > GFC to be a perfect run of albums so it pains me to say that I consider this one a misfire. Objectively beautiful production and such, but it doesn't remotely hit the emotional highs of everything else for me.

There's some really great songs on here - Funny Girl, Buddy's, Mr. Blue, Chloe - up there with his best I'd say, but there's also some that are just kind of meh.

He was so incredible. Every time I see him it reminds me how incredible his voice really is. And how hard he rocks in the moments he really goes for it.

Seeing him again tomorrow. Saw him front row on the GFC tour, a show I’ll never forget. Very excited, my wife is coming and she’s pumped, she had to miss the last one. A mutually enjoyed artist for us.

He was really good. Not as good as the GFC tour from a few years back tbh. I just prefer the songs more rooted in indie rock, the cocktail jazz lounge stuff is cool and I like Chloe quite a bit but I’m still hoping it’s a one album thing and he goes in another direction on the next one.

During the banter he made it sound like he only did the jazz/lounge stuff because of the extra time in 2020/2021 he had. I don't think it will continue
