I would assume most of it is made up, like Vin announcing multiple sequels to Fast X And Universal being like “No, that’s not true.”
It's true as well as a Hobbs and Dante film would be a bridge between Fast X and Fast X part 2 but it seemed the plans have gone haywire after the underperformance of Fast X but also if it goes to plan for the Smashing machine and Dwayne Johnson gets serious awards consideration maybe even an Oscar nom just for example then schedule for him or whatever plans they have for the character of Hobbs might go out the window as well for him because he might be in serious demand post awards season next year so who knows what the hell does going on with this franchise.
It's definitely a symptom of Hollywood's disease that a film that was the fifth highest grossing film when it came out was just barely able to turn a profit because of all the money pumped into it.
Hobbs and Shaw which I enjoyed.. should never have cost $200 million but luckily it was a hit but not the billion dollar hit they wanted but it was a missed opportunity to really make different to the main series.. it should of been an $70 million budgeted grounded by their standards R rated film.. if that happened then we could of easily had a sequel by now
It’s my favorite franchise but it should’ve ended at 7. then they should’ve just went all in on spin offs like Hobbs’s and Shaw.
My boomer take is if you advertise a movie as being a part one then part two better already be filmed or fully in production
My unsubstantiated take is Vin is as much of the soul of the franchise as his ego is a problem with it.
I feel like the solution to this is a spinoff film that is a throwback to the grounded world of illegal street racing, and keep the main series doing insane superhero/spy type shit.
Oh Vin's ego is fucking huge!! But whatevers going on behind the scenes about the status of the next Fast film.. they better start shooting soon because Vin is not getting any younger!
Might be way off here but I saw an ad earlier during the wild card games that looked like Haagen Dazs teasing a super bowl ad featuring Dom’s black Plymouth. Unless Haagen Dazs is just doing a muscle car ad in the big game, I assume it’s tied to Vin Diesel and this franchise
This was ridiculous in a way that even seemed surprising for these movies. So I had a good time. Mamoa was a blast.
My fiancé after we both remembered that Gal Gadot died in Fast 6 and she was dating Han who died in Tokyo Drift: “The only one who is actually dead is Paul Walker and they all act like he’s still alive”.
I wonder if they will bring back Elena even though she was literally shot in the head in front of Dom. It would be hard to justify making Cypher a team member otherwise.
