Probably his sister who is co head of his production company.. outside of the fast movies, XxX and Riddick, they don't have any other projects that's not based pre-existing IP so they might as well milk the fast franchise for all that's worth!
A movie called The Furious is coming out soon and I was surprised to find it's not part of this franchise
There was an interview with the president of Universal and she briefly mentioned Fast Forever and said a portion of the film will be filmed in LA but Vin Diesel keeps saying the final film will be set entirely in LA... I think I believe the president of Universal more than Vin Diesel!
They fucked themselves. I have no skin in this game, but it's clear they thought they could go bigger and bigger with the franchise, and the result is the last film made 700 million worldwide and still did not break even, which is fucking absurd. Then take into account the endless cliffhangers they set up that they need to satisfactorily resolve, and I think it's plain to see why this film is so hard to get off the ground. They have a huge fucking cast that only expands because nobody can stay dead and that gets expensive all on its own. Personally, if this is the last one, they might as well go out in a blaze of glory instead of fucking about worrying about how to be profitable.
100% this. They made themselves into “Avengers + horsepower.” It sucks! Sometimes people need to die for the story to keep going!
Maybe the worst ride of all of the Orlando theme parks, but it is very fun riding it knowing that fact.
