the shakes are also so dope and you can combine a bunch of flavors/toppings for free iirc. i've only been there once, but i thought it was dope and i spent like $4.

 

Cook Out is great for shakes, but other than that you’re absolutely right that the appeal is only because it’s SO much food for SO cheap and the combinations are endless. The food itself is all super bland and low quality, especially the burgers. When you need a ton of food super fast or might not care about the taste because of other factors, it feels like it’s much better than it is.

I will say it’s hit or miss, and I was a Cook Out skeptic for a looooong time while all my friends would always rave about it back in high school. But when it hits, it’s really great.

 

let me ask you a question tho: does it hit after you've hit something?

 

Haha I usually get it after work. It absolutely slaps after you hit something for sure but it usually hits the spot either way.

I have been known to get 2 trays with 2 shakes after going there high though

sounds like it's similar to Jack in the Box, in that the food isn't great, but you can get breakfast 24/7 and they have egg rolls and deep fried tacos and potato wedges and quadruple stacked burgers and all sorts of crazy shit

 

The value is really what it’s all about at Cook Out, but some of the items on the menu do genuinely taste great. Like, you can get 4 chicken quesadillas and a medium drink for 5 bucks. The quesadillas are roughly the same size as the ones at Taco Bell (okay maybe a little less filling) and arguably better. Not saying I would argue that personally lol because I am at odds over which one I prefer. But regardless, four chicken quesadillas at Taco Bell costs like $15. Also the bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions is just a really good burger, especially at that price point.

 

Also that’s maybe more of a personal way in which Cook Out excels. Taco Bell is a really great value too, the quesadillas just happen to be on the pricy side which is why they came to mind. At the end of the day it’s still Taco Bell > Cook Out, I’m no savage.

 

I’ve tried their burgers a bunch of different ways and they all taste like nothing. The other choices are somewhat better but the shakes are the only thing on the menu that I ever crave for the flavor and not just the quantity.

And they actually have a legit $1 menu unlike say Mcdonald's and there's a lot of options. It's almost rude the choices I have to make. If I am really stoned i get a tray with a milkshake and a BLT on the side lol

They also have the best ranch

 

Popeyes has that blackened ranch though.
