Also I know they aren't great but I really enjoy their boneless wings

 

I wish they didn't put their patty melt on Texas toast. Idk why so many things have to be on Texas toast these days. It's good for garlic bread or a side of bread, but Texas toast grilled cheese and patty melts aren't very good imo. Too much bread... throws the whole ratio of meat:bread off.

 

I love their popcorn chicken, but sometimes there's too much breading and not enough chicken.

 

How is the spicy chicken wrap at wendy's?

I'm pretty sure rye or marble rye is the default bread for a patty melt.

Cranberry limeade does sound amazing.

Yeah, I originally was thinking, "a bun?" what?!?! but then I remembered rye, and you're right that no one serves a patty melt on rye unless it's like a diner or something.

Cranberry limeade is great if you like tart. The cherry and strawberry ones are too sweet/overpowering but the cranberry compliments the lime nicely. Give it a shot. "Happy hour all the time when you order on the app!"

It must be a regional thing! Basically everywhere I've ever been to serves a patty melt on rye or sometimes sourdough.

I'm trying the cranberry limeade the next time I go!

I guess I'm thinking more fast food places (Whataburger, Sonic) that use Texas Toast. I suppose a huge chain that only makes one sandwich that would require rye bread, would instead just use whatever they already have on hand.

But it is strange, because the only thing that really makes it a patty melt rather than a cheeseburger is the grilled onions and the rye bread and they're missing half of the components.

 

that's true. fast food places do use texas toast. I was thinking restaurants, but we are in the fast food thread (duh!).

summer sonic milkshakes at half price are god tier

 

Sonic's milkshakes can be hit or miss to me. If you get one like strawberry where they use real fruit, they're pretty good, but I got cookie dough once and aside from them just putting pieces of cookie dough in it, they put some kind of artificial cookie dough flavored syrup in it (and way too much of it) and it tasted like dog shit.
