update: i waited 10 or so before i saw a sign that they were out till monday. i was only a couple cars away at that point so i still waited to make sure but the sign didn’t lie unfortunately. now i’m at my second popeyes, inside cus the drive thru wasn’t running. didn’t take too long to order, now just waiting on the goods. spicy combo with fries cus they were out of red beans

i haven’t 100% narrowed down my exact reasoning for this yet but i feel like i didn’t get the ideal perfect version of the sandwich today

and yet it was still extremely good. i didn’t realize most of the spicy is in the sauce since it took me a few bites to get into a good pocket of sauce. and that wasn’t crazy or anything but had a solid heat to it

idk if i got an extra good batch today cus i’ve had and loved the popeyes fries in the past, but these today were pretty mind blowing. forgot to ask for blackened ranch or something and just ended up eating them dry and i was in heaven

also had a near perfect fountain coke

My buddy went yesterday. The website said they opened at 10, so he got there at 930 and there was already a long line at the drive thru so he waited by the door. The door said they didn't open til 10:30. By the time 10:30 came around, there were 20 people in line outside and even more in the drive thru, but the restaurant still wasn't open. At 10:45 a worker came out and said it was going to be 30 more minutes before they were open and that they only had 100 sandwiches and that they weren't going to be selling them to anyone in the drive thru, you had to come inside to get one. He had to be at work at 11:30 so he just left. What a mess.

 

what the hell is with people and this chicken sandwich

Honestly at this point I'm convinced that the stores are just lying to people to get as many to leave as they possibly can. I've actually thought this since something weird that happened back when I first had the sandwich.

When the sandwich was originally available, my wife and I went to try and get it. We went into the restaurant because the drive-thru was closed and there was a long line. My wife and I really wanted to try the sandwich so we decided to wait. After we had been waiting for a bit, the manager came out from the kitchen and made a big show of counting how many people were waiting. He then announced that they only had enough sandwiches for a certain number of people, and the cutoff was like four people in front of us. Some people left and we moved up, but for some reason we decided to wait, hoping that not everybody in line was there for the sandwich.

Anyway, not even five minutes after the manager said where the cutoff was, an employee came out from the back of the kitchen with a container that was almost overflowing with sandwiches and started putting them under the heat lamps where they keep the food that's ready to be served to people. We were kind of stunned that the manager had just outright lied to people. There were plenty of sandwiches for everyone who had been on line and then some. We were really glad we had stayed, obviously, but it bothered me for a while after that.

 

I know there have been jokes but this is legit sounding like a streetwear drop lol

 

i’ve got absolutely no problem with whatever fuckery the employees pull. this has to be a complete nightmare for them that they’re being compensated a pittance for

 

yeah must be a living hell

 

I'd be interested to know how many employees they've lost in the past few days

what nightmarish stories of the Popeyes chicken sandwich will we hear today?

 

I went after work last night and got two of them because I missed getting one on Sunday and had to make up for it

not popeyes related, but we’ve got a (n amazing) wing joint here that uses similar tactics when they’re busy.

once we went there and were told they only had a certain number of wings left and were keeping tally when everyone ordered (it was like 6/7 and they’re open until 10 every day). we were about five groups back in line and they said we’d probably be the cutoff for the night. we order, go sit down, get our wings, and a friend who was coming late arrives about 30 minutes later and guess what? he still was able to order wings.

a second time we’d got there with a huge line and they were saying it would be at least an hour before anyone would get their food. we were fine with waiting as we were mostly just looking to hang out and enjoy some beers. a few people left after the announcement and we proceeded to order and got our wings about ten minutes later (fries did take a little longer, though)

 

Damn that’s insane, hope he recovers quickly
