I made a grilled turkey and swiss sammie the other day and dipped it in honey mustard. that was p good.

 

Oh come on I get shit for ketchup but mustard???

Ketchup is tangy and acidic and slightly sweet, adds a complexity to a shitty diner grilled cheese you plebs can't understand obvs.

 

Grilled cheese doesn't need condiments it's beautiful on its own

 

I'm not one for regular yellow mustard in general, but yeah. Cheese & mustard is a natural combination. Ever have a charcuterie plate where they server cheese, meats, crackers, fruit, sometimes olives, and mustard together? That's a natural combination. Coleman's or dijon would be ideal though.

Think about a grilled ham and cheese. You're not putting mustard on that?

Not at a diner where they use crappy american cheese and sometimes don't even toast the bread enough.

I make delicious grilled cheese at home and those can stand by themselves - or dipped in tomato soup, my other favorite combo.

My pineapple stanning is coming at full force today apparently but hickory farms has a delish pineapple honey mustard. Not a big fan of yellow mustard

 

You're making a grilled cheese and adding ham. just the same way you could add bacon or tomato or both. that's still not a grilled cheese? I guess it's a thin line. I think of a melt as having tuna salad or a burger on it.

 

Haha honestly I'd probably call it a grilled cheese but I look at the grilled cheese subreddit sometimes cause I really love grilled cheese and I think it's funny how mad they get when you add anything but cheese to it:

Haha oh, wow. I get where they're coming from, but adding something to a grilled cheese doesn't make it not a grilled cheese imo. If the cheese is the main ingredient by volume & weight, how do you justify calling it a ham melt? It'd be one thing if ham was the main ingredient, but I'm talking about just adding two strips of bacon or a piece of grilled ham. I'd call it a ham melt if you took a ham sub with cheese and pressed it. I think that's the difference that those clowns on reddit are missing.
