My town is drastically changing because of this. Our local housing market has become extremely expensive because folks from NYC are purchasing homes 50-75k above asking price. It's wild.
$900-1000 is the absolute bare bottom floor for minimum rent per month on long island and at that price youre definitely in someones illegal basement apartment paying rent in cash and not sharing any utilities.
i do not disagree. mine made it perfectly clear that it would be unacceptable to be at all late with payments during this time.
I have a little more than 100 additional square feet than this and i pay $1000 more per month than that is asking lol #longisland
nope. renters can get fucked! they might not be able to like kick me to the curb right this second, but once state lifts the moratorium on evictions, i'd be out that day. (thankfully i still have a job so im fine, but im constantly stressed about it)
I guess my question would then be, what's the fucking point of even claiming there are protections for home owners and renters against this shit? It's such garbage. My wife and I work in healthcare, so we're extremely fortunate that we haven't suffered through this pandemic financially, but shit. I understand landlords have a bottom line, but I guess you have to be a special kind of asshole to threaten something like that against someone. If I were a landlord, and someone in good faith was showing me that they were making an effort, I'd never fault them on it....I dunno.
