Yeah and it's ultimately good but also so, so awful. It happened with Destiny a few weeks ago, apparently it's happening with csgo too. All these communities need to burned down and started over. The gaming community is so fucking toxic

 

Yeah I've seen it happening with Magic and comic book artists I think subcultures in general are having a reckoning with it rn

Yep. I’m only connected to the comic community through conventions and friends but I’ve still seen a fair amount of discussion. The convention culture itself is one that I’ve expected to have this conversation at some point and I wouldn’t be surprised if that finally happens now.

God I fucking hope so. Even a few of the anime voice actors I idolized as a child and would meet and hang out with at cons turned out to be pedos. It's fucking sickening. Not to mention just the overall toxicity of certain cons/fandoms as a culture

 

It’s been happening for sure over the last couple of years. Not specifically comic book conventions or rather exclusively. There isn’t that much different from an anime convention to a comic book to a video game convention.

I saw they arrested Jeffery Epstein’s wife tho? That’s good hopefully something comes of that

Oh yeah for sure. I’ve seen it happen to convention regulars over the years on an individual scale, but there’s so much that’s toxic and harmful at a bigger level and will need a more complete overhaul to change. I have no idea how much of that is even possible, but it’s been going on relatively unchecked as long as I’ve been a part of them.
