you can't control the past only the present and future, I feel like I need to constantly say this to you haha I get it
I know, I know! It’s the worst! I try to tell that to myself constantly but I never listen. I can’t fathom actually being able to forget about things that aren’t in my control and never look back. The dream.
I just sat here cracking up that there is a tik tok where a man updates his followers every day on not having fizzy drinks and the comments are like yessssss king of no fizzy drinks for 23 day. This is a real king. I will take a bullet for him!! He has 150k followers and his whole page is his updates on not drinking fizzy drinks. When did the internet become this supportive
That reminds me of a Thursday show I went to where I wanted to hang out with some show friends beforehand and they very much did not know about my show anxieties or how picky I am about where I stand so I had to pretend to be all cool and casual on the outside eating dinner while on the inside I was FREAKING OUT. Luckily I was able to tell them that it made me nervous and they basically swore an oath to get my to my favorite spot without any stress on my part. It totally worked and was a lifechanging concert moment, lol. I still get anxious about certain shows or venues where I know sight lines are bad, but I do try to remember that night a lot and that I don’t always have to sacrifice having a fun time to get where I need to be.
man shows are just way too expensive and most times require way too much commitment to get to to not enjoy it exactly the way you want to - i have just straight up told friends before “ill see you after im going over there” lol
Also this is me. I’ve always had anxiety but I think I started going to shows alone before I rly knew what it was so it’s never been a problem for me. advocating for myself especially in terms of anxiety needs, is one of the most empowering feelings
Oh yeah I generally have no problem going my own way when it comes to things like that. I often am alone at shows anyway so it doesn’t matter, but if I’m with people who want to show up super late that’s not going to work for me. The Thursday one was a special exception because the people were actually trustworthy to not make me miss out and they had some connections where they knew like exact set times and how packed it currently was, and that helped a lot. I always end up right behind a couple where one is very short and one is very tall and the tall one always ends up right in front of me. And yeah so many venues have terrible seats. There are a few old theaters in Richmond with truly heinous ones, and I can’t believe they’ve never been complained about enough to change them. One place is bad enough that my mother flat out refuses to ever go there again because they caused her so much pain the last time.
