My best friend asked me about them the other night and was literally shocked when I was telling her I don’t listen to them anymore because I just cry and get really upset

she doesn’t really understand. She’s my best friend but we have spent the majority of our adult lives living across the country and not in great touch. We are very different people.

Yes yes yes yes yes. Whenever I go back to the UK there’s BN poster and merch all over my damn room and it’s legitimately like I escaped to Japan from all of that and hate having to face it every time I’m home. Such an uncomfortable feeling to want to listen to something that legitimately shaped you as a person and was nigh on part of my personality to my friends and family and here...only to realise while it was helping you it was hurting others

 

it's a vicious cycle too, like I feel bad for feeling bad cuz then I'm like it's not about me but damn dude, they shaped so much of me growing up. sorry to bring it up though it's been a while and kinda lame but it just came up and I wasn't expecting these emotions lol.

My bff was like why don’t you get your tattoo covered and I was like ....I just can’t Idk even that hurts too much. It’s so beautiful it makes me sad to think of covering it. But maybe someday I will.

Also she was trying to wrap her head around it because we were talking about how every band from back then was definitely doing the same shit (we were having emo night as you might recall) but like I had no problem listening to them. Or I have no problem listening for example to nicki Minaj even knowing she is someone I shouldn’t support (and I don’t publicly, just making a point here). But she was basically like well if you can listen to them why not bn?? And I had to try to explain to her that concept of like because bn was just TOO close to my heart. I can’t “separate the art from the artist” at all because it feels like it was part of me. I don’t know. I’m not saying it makes sense. Just explaining how it feels for me.

 

On the topic of paramore I cannot stand that I don’t enjoy any of the music after the third album. They’re a band I was OBSESSED with and the first band I ever saw live. Seeing them introduced me to Now, Now and other music that influenced me. I just cannot connect with anything past BNE at all and it’s like I fully hate myself for it

Fuck. Yep. I forget I have a BN tattoo sometimes and my gf loves it...keeps forgetting what it means...then I have to explain it again and I feel ashamed...

It only has to make sense to you and you don’t have to make excuses or apologise - completely understand and the same shit goes around in my head almost daily. It’s legitimately made me lose interest in music for years since.
