Agreed, I think the back half of s3 makes the slow start worth it. But I also understand how people were kinda worn out with it at the time since it was aired week by week. Ray dying feels like the real kick off point for me
oh yeah I was struggling a lot with it when it first aired and was super critical of the first half. on rewatch I think the slow burn is entirely necessary, it might be my favourite season these days
not my dumbass starting w/ season 2 not thinking this was gonna be connected through one big universe.
Hahah. Yeah, each season shares some type of connective tissue with the others. 2 and 1 are definitely the most connected for obvious reasons. Having seen them out of order you may or may not have also picked up that Hanzee from season 2 eventually becomes Tripoli, the Fargo syndicate mob boss in season 1 IIRC the only tie in season 4 has is that a young Mike Milligan is one of the leads. And it’s barely a spoiler - they basically give it away in episode 1
Doing a rewatch of this, but chronologically. So 4, 2, movie, 1, 3, and then 5 when it comes out in a couple months. I just got to 2, and yeah this is the smoothest best way to binge this show.
I mean it is not just the origin story of Mike Milligan, but it is the origin story of the entire Kansas City group from season 2 as a whole. You see towards the end they start to evolve from being a typical mafia crew to the more corporate crime entity you see in the second season. Also Brad Garrett's character from season 2 shows up in the last couple episodes of season 4, he is the one that executes Jason Schwartzman and the nurse.
is he playing a dick? or is he playing any sane human being who sits at a breakfast diner and isn't getting an appropriate amount of refills on their coffee? One of my biggest pet peeves, tbh.
Umm I mean large obnoxious belt buckle, picking bacon off of someone's plate, carrying himself like he owns the place. Pretty obvious his character is a dick.
I love Mad Men, but gotta show some appreciation to Jon Hamm's performance as a despicable dickhead FBI agent in Richard Jewell. All time Jon Hamm dick performance.
meh. he was the worst part of that movie outside of propping up the military industrial complex and it's essentially the same part he did a decade ago in The Town
