really? lol I'm struggling to get into Schwartzman's performance. maybe he's meant to be kind of offputting because the character is, but every scene I just see "Schwartzman acting as a serious actor" instead of it feeling natural and effortless like Chris Rock's work. maybe I'll settle into it also loved the subtle Miller's Crossing and Raising Arizona references in the dialogue, Hawley's always been so good at nodding to the Coen Bros. universe without overdoing it or aping their style
I see it as him being in over his head but trying to put on a front, it works perfectly for the character so far imo
Agree. If I didn't know of his other career and sincerely love his music, I'd be much less forgiving.
I am enjoying it but I don't love it* *Except for any time Michael Stuhlbarg is on-screen of course, which is delightful
What season are you on? Imo late s2-all of s3 is the prime of it. Though the last season a lot of people beat up on it I enjoyed it.
We're almost done with season 3. I think we're on S3E10. We just watched the episode where Nucky is recovering from the concussion after the explosion at Babette's and the other bosses turn down his request for help against Rosetti and Masseria.
Yeah I love Bobby C as the villain that season, and Nucky has a good arc. Plus our boy Harrow has a p good scene coming up for you....
To be honest, my opinion on the show definitely soured a good bit when they killed off Jimmy at the end of season 2. I miss Michael Pitt!
straight up didn't realise that was Olyphant at the end of ep 2 until someone pointed it out to me damn
lol in my defense he was in the dark the whole time and didn't say any lines (??) my mental image of Olyphant is still Seth Bullock so I always have to take a moment to catch up when he doesn't look that way anymore
I am coming around to Jason Schwartzman in his role. He does petulance really well. But I can't help seeing him as his I Heart Huckabees character haha
I think he’s doing a good job selling his character. We’re not supposed to take him seriously as an acting boss yet. The part in ep 2 Where the brother is sitting in his seat, and everyone gives him a look like he’s gonna throw a fit. Then skips to the brother quietly moving was a sign that perhaps he’s going to be taken more seriously.
So it turns out Bird was just handed the role by Hawley after a show lol. Andrew Bird Can't Believe He's on 'Fargo' Either
I've heard mixed reviews about S4 but I'll watch anything Jessie Buckley is in For Stuhlbarg fans, he plays a mob boss in an upcoming series with Bryan Cranston that looks like it'll be great:
I’m excited to see where the Gaetano character goes. I feel like they’ve set up a number of good potential character arcs. Excited to see how they tie together.
